Samsung A24 vs A34 vs?

I have to agree. Been a vodacom subscriber since 1999, still am, but I will never buy a phone from them - they totally f....k up the firmware with their restrictions and bloatware and logos.
Does Volte and VoWiFi work on phones not supplied by Vodacom though? When I bought my Zuk Z2 it had a Volte option that you could enable...but because it was not a Vodacom supplied phone it did not work. With iPhone it is different I think. Phone downloads settings when it detects your sim I believe. With Android these kind of network features needs to be embedded in the carrier specific firmware. Unless it has changed now?

VoLTE is enabled on my Redmi A1, but not my Redmi Note 9T. I think it is SIM dependant? That said the VoLTE SIM has been in many phones, some from Vodacom. Both Redmis were bought from the MIA Xiaomi online store. The 9T has two VodaCom SIMs and will do 5G on both SIMs

All Vodacom sims should now be provisioned for 5G. This was done in bulk by Vodacom. That means all of them should have Volte (Which includes VoWiFi) also provioned. Not like the old days when we had to manually activate LTE on the system for customers. Gosh I had so many people...even from MyBB I assisted with having to remove and reprovision LTE on their profiles to get it working.

I remember yes - you got so gatvol of it at one stage you said no more.

What I am seeing is my Redmi A1 shows the VoLTE icon at the top:

But my Redmi Note 9T does not:

Hi all,

I need to buy a new phone. Looking for decent battery life, camera, fingerprint unlock and longevity.

Looking at A24 or A34 currently but open to others. Max budget R6500.

1. A34 is 2k more. Do you think it's worth it? I'd like something that will last a few years so I'm thinking the extra 2GB memory is worth it..

2. Vodacom online seems to be cheapest for these models: R4199 for A24 and R6199 for A34. Any reason not to buy from them? I don't want network locked (not sure if that's still a thing)!

3. Any alternatives I should be considering?

TIA!
A24 is a great phone for the money. Don't spend the extra 2k.

i know about the sim lock but what other restrictions do they impose?

Oh... Only reason to go A34 over 24 is the built in ability to cast to Samsung and LG TVs out the box. I.e. not just Chromecast.
Better cpu and more RAM?

I own a Samsung A23 4G version. Very happy with it. It is not a gaming phone but for business, I can't complain. It has a good battery and it is nice and fast. I would go for the 5G one or for a newer model phone but overall if you want a nice budget phone that does everything you need it to do A23 will do the job.

Well, I was just forced into getting an A24...and I'm already rather upset...all I wanted to do was hide the bladdy notch -which was a single click in EMUI- only to find out that it's on a per app basis in OneUI.X ...and even then it doesn't do it properly, I mean like WTFH?
