2 seconds to blank syndrome, image is still visible with a torch. Identified faulty inverter transformer T901S marked 1400284.
Repair options:
- R471 cost of new power board, directly from Samsung.
- US$40 (average) import of 2nd hand power board.
- US$15 (average) import of unknown quality 'compatible' transformer.

Crazy option is CCFL to LED conversion kit like below. It has brightnes/blank control, but they don't supply any details, it might be directly not compatible with B2330H. http://www.iccfl.com/product_info.php?cPath=205&products_id=20676
Any experience with this?
BTW, Power Board model# is PWI2304PC(A), if someone has such board for sale (even not working), pls PM.

I had a problem with an LG screen like that. Just replaced a few caps in PSU which sorted out the problem. Still working a year later. Total cost was less than R5.

Not sure if you have the same problem.

Samsung had more problems with bad caps than LG, but in this case problem had been diagnosed as indicated in original post. One winding measure 1050Ohm, the other one 3.5kOhm. It should be identical. Regulator will shutdown inverter when such condition is detected. It can be more problems, but this one must be repaired first. http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10419

I'd just get the Samsung...500 bucks isn't that much

Besides...it'll have to endure some load shedding so I'd rather get the real deal

Indeed, R500 is rather cheap.

I got the same monitor, going strong after 5 years.

I've got very good deal for two identical monitors, so R500 looks (relatively) deep if you ask me. :) This is from the member of this forum (a real gentelman, I can tell you) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/689342
The working one is very good, I agree. Little-bit bleeding on edges (only visible on dark picture) and contrast is on the average, but there are no faults or srcatches and now my old eyes do not suffer from strain anymore. :)
