Samsung devices do not infringe Apple design

Really? And in this case? There has been no sales ban. And Samsung have not paid over any fine to Apple yet. And they probably will never have to.

And the USA is one of the places that I have been to and go to fairly often.
I have a ten year multiple entry VISA. :D This is the third one I have had.
And when I am there I will be using my Samsung Galaxy S3... and will probably buy a new Galaxy TAB as well, since those are also still on sale there.

Amazing court case, this... it has accomplished Diddly Squat. :D

Huh? They are both profit based, soulless companies. Samsung has just historically been a bit worse

Its widely known, and has been for many years. Why would Apple want the info that is already known?

I only brought it up as a response to the guy who bizarrely called Samsung "the good guys".
They are many things, but not " the good guys"

Look at Samsungs recent designs. They have found their own design language and stop mimicking Apple's. So, the result is pretty good
 
No one can deny that there are similarities between the iPad and Samung' Galaxy tab. Apple released the iPad first, lots of people thought it was a joke and were proven wrong. Samsung was the first big manufacturer to release a tablet that could compete with the iPad and it did look similar. The iPhone was also laughed at because everyone I knew said that typing on a screen is stupid. Everyone is doing it now.

The dock connector on an iPad and Galaxy tab is near identical. The charger is the exact same shape but a different color. Samsung's version of Apple's Smart Cover is near identical. Samsung are clearly using ideas from Apple but that's business. People may not like it but that type of business has been carrying on forever. I could swear that however invented the wheel must have been fairly pissed off when someone copied it.
 
Many of the things that you mention have been around since before the iPad, for example the HP PDA's have had a connector like that for ages. And they were not the first.

I don't think Apple were the first for many of their designs. However, they brought in many designs and and made a great new design by combining all these factors. Samsung then just copied wholesale. Hell, Google warned them about it.
Therein lies the difference

That's probably only 'cos Apple's designs are ancient now in terms of technology. They moved on a long time ago! :D

Maybe. As long as they stop stealing design wholesale, then the reason is irrelevant
