Hi.

I have managed to install the Samsung G800 as a data modem on my PC.
When I click create network account, whether I use Vodacom, MTN or Cell C ... it dials *99* or something like that ... but it asks me for a username and password ... what do I use in these fields?
Also ... I am using a virgin sim card, so which settings must I select and use ... and when I use a vodacom sim card in the phone for 3.5G capability ... what settings must I use?
Also, do I need a 64k sim for 3.6mbps or is there a bigger sim?

Lastly, does anyone know where I can find some nice free content for this phone and are there any hidden features on it ... like sony ericsson has right, star, left, left, star, left, star ...

Regards

Itai

You can just leave the username and password blank. If the phone is correctly set up for the specific network it should work without any problems.

Windows wants me to fill in a username??? ... Could you possibly give me step by step instructions on how to do if you use Samsung PC Suite and have the time.

I don't have Samsung PC suite nor a Samsung phone. However I have managed to set up my Motorola phone manually. If you create a connection with the PC suite it should set everything up automatically.

All you need to do then is to connect to the network (it would be similar to a dail-up network). Once you get to the window that prompts you for a Username and Pass you just leave the Username and pass blank and click on connect. It should take a few secs and you are ready to go.

For me, it just says registering phone on the network ... but nothing happens from there ... and eventually it errors out saying responding computer did not respond in a timely manner ... even when I do connect without un or password.

I will try again with my vodacom sim ... maybe it will work.

Tried my virgin sim so far ... haven't had a chance for my vodacom one yet.

Well I tried my Vodacom Sim ... and it connected to the internet perfectly ... Really strange :P

Yup ... thats why I bought it :) ... But first I need to go get a 64k sim card to make it 3.6 capable and then I have to wait for 7.2 network.

OK here is what you do...when you setup the connection via pc studio ...dont select South Africa.. select Other. For the service provider also choose Other. then for the APN Name enter vdata. For the number its *99**1*1#. Thats it you connected.

The problem comes in with the APN name. If you choose Vodacom, MTN or Cell C its sets the value to "internet" and you cant change it and well for virgin it should be vdata.

Hope this helps
