Hey Guys!

I bought the samsung G800 about a week ago. Only problem is i am struggling to pick up signal everywhere. Also, when i switch on the phone, it displays a flashy simcard in orange, which is suppose to mean that the sim was not inserted correctly, but im am still able to make calls and send and receive sms's. Any Suggestion and/or advice?

Fred

Ok

What do you mean try it with GSM only? im currently on the MTN network...

what he means is to force it to GSM 900/1800.
MENU -> SETTINGS -> NETWORK SETTINGS -> NETWORK MODE.

Just in case u wonder how i know the menu.. :P. have bought the same phone a week ago. Kicks N95 butt me thinks :D

Hell YEah!!

Hehe and this would solve the signal problem? Did you have the same problem?

Nope...no signal problems on this side yet... did have some problems yesterday with USB charging.... but nothing a firmware update cant solve.. i hope :P

Ok,

So if the switching to GSM does not work, what do you suggest i then do?

Or should this fix my problem?

Well, i will check it this afternoon and then come back to you guys.

Is there anyone i can contact at mtn directly from here? I remember someone called the mtn guy that always posted threads here...

Mmm, I cannot be a factory default as the signal is ok as soon as i try and call or when i try and sms. Its only once i go into java applications such as say ,mxit that the signal gets "drained" so to speak. Could this then maybe be a fault on their side?

But one of my friend is using the same mobile without any default.Perhaps might be factory defect.

Hey,
Also the problem might have been that i was trying to mxit in a room where there were buildings around bouncing the signal.

I also read that mxit does not like 3g, which means that i will log out once it hits a 3g hotspot.
