Samsung Galaxy Mega smartphone is really big

Before buying the Galaxy Note 2 I thought it might be too big but after owning it for a few months it's becoming to small
I agree.
If you're doing a lot of web browsing on a phone or connecting via RDP/VNC to servers at the office, then bigger is better. Still needs to slip into a shirt pocket though and the 6.3 inch model is only 7.5mm wider than the Galaxy Note 2 so it should fit fine.
The 5.8 inch model is only 1.9mm wider than the Galaxy Note 2.
Personally I'll stick with the Galaxy Note 2 but these mid range devices should sell well if they are offered on a sub R250 per month contract.

Samsung churning out more useless junk niche products to fill the market.
phablet perhaps? ... Def too big for a phone :/

Why do you hate them? Did you purchase one by mistake?
That's like me driving a Fiat 500 and hating all the Jeep vehicles on the road because "they're too big".

So I thought, till I used a galaxy note for a year, then went to the Nexus 4. I miss that big screen!

Yes, it's exactly the same thing. A motor vehicle and a mobile phone are both consumer products.
So why should someone "hate" a product which they are not forced to purchase?
I could say that I hate the Apple iPhone 5 but I don't because no one has forced it down my throat.
I just decide it's not for me and pick something else which better suites my needs.

I think it depends on use. I've gotten accustomed to doing the 'bigscreen' stuff on a proper size tablet. Then I prefer having a smaller phone because it fits better into my life - gymming, walking around and messaging, and stuff like that. If I just had the one though I'd also lean towards a much bigger screened phone, say ~Note sized. But 6.3' is taking the piss really.

No, I totaly agree, the Note is probably biggest I would go for a phablet. Was just commenting on the 4.3" being "big enough".

Size all comes down to personal preference and use case.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800. It is my phone. Yes it looks a bit silly when I talk on it but I make so few phone calls. For many people voice is a secondary (tertiary, deciary?) reason for the device. I use it for browsing, email, social networking much more than calls and the larger screen is great. Over the weekend it is a tight squeeze into my front jeans pocket but it still just fits. I think 6.3 would be better.
As for the complaints on the DPI. 233ppi is that really so low? Have we bought into the "retina" hype? Yes, I would have preferred 1080p rather than 720p but the 196ppi on my AMOLED screen (not pentile) has never been an issue.
It is all about choice. There is now a size to suit almost anyone in the Android world. There is no Apple telling me I can only have a single size.
