For the last few days I've had issues connecting to the internet with my Galaxy Note 10.1. The problem seems to come and go.

When it's not working 100%, I can still check email with the standard email app and send & receive mail.
I cannot access the internet with any browsers(default, Firefox, Chrome) or any apps (twitter, facebook, accuweather, google maps etc).

However, when I set the device up as a wifi hotspot, I can connect my laptop and have no issues whatsoever getting online with Firefox on the laptop(doing this right now). All sites can be accessed and I can send/receive email.

The first time it happened I tweeted Vodacom thinking it was their problem since I regularly have times where I cannot connect where I live. They suggested I reset the date & time and after doing this the issue was resolved. The 2nd time that did not work so I restarted the device and that solved the problem.

I had issues again yesterday and tried resetting date & time, and restarted several times, but it did nothing. Eventually after a few hours it was working again. Tonight, the issue is back. I emailed Samsung support this morning but have not received a reply.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? It's lank annoying since I'm on the road most of the day and use this thing all the time.

Thanks for any input.

Ok, so this morning I tried switching flight mode on and then off and after that I could get online again. Lets see how long it works for this time.

Also issue with my Galaxy Note 10.1. When I log into the Absa stocktraders account...it accept my username and password on the https web site, it shows my stock portfolio but thats where everything freezes. Then I cannot select any shares or use any of the menus of the website. Actually it is then completely stuck, I can't even log out again. Any ideas why only this website would behave like that? I use wifi to log into the absa site with the tablet.

@deonvw Have you tried a different browser?

To update my issues, I was still having intermittent connection problems yesterday. I know if I take it in to Vodacom, they'll wipe everything so last night I decided to upgrade to Jelly Bean, hoping that it might resolve the issue. I upgraded to the German JB rom via Odin. The improved features are great, especially full multi-view and airview, tab is smoother and faster. First thing this morning when switching it on, it seemed to once again not want to go online. Happened just the once, and now has been fine the 5 or 6 times I've checked it during the day.

Will see how it goes during the week. If the issue crops up again then I guess it can only be a hardware issue.

Well, even though I feel like I'm mostly talking to myself here, I'll continue the dialogue in case anyone else might have similar issues in the future.

The issues returned even after installing Jelly Bean. At first I thought that indicates a hardware fault, but apparently I was wrong.

I phoned Samsung support on Tuesday and they said I should do a factory reset. My first thought was, "Pointless, I've just loaded a new OS, it should all be fine" Well, I guess the software systems that operate the hardware are separate from the OS(I know nothing about these things) because it actually seems to have worked. Haven't had any issues since Tuesday evening, which makes me believe it is sorted seeing as I hadn't had a single problem-free day in more than 2 weeks.

Obviously I'll update if it crops up again.

Thanks for listening :-)

Well, here I am again. The issues did return a week or so after I did the hard reset. I phoned support again and this time I was told to go to Settings/More settings/Mobile Networks/Network Operators to do a search for available network and then select my operator (Vodacom)

It immediately sorted the connection issue and I thought "Yay, problem solved!" The rep then told me to do that whenever the issue cropped up. Didn't give it much thought, until it wouldn't connect AGAIN 2 days later. Did as above, issue went away but I was left a little annoyed that I would seemingly have to do this on a regular basis. This has indeed been the case for the last few weeks.

Until today. I have tried searching for and selecting my network 4 times and it does not resolve the connection problems. I've again tried switching flight-mode on and off and that does nothing.

Will phone Samsung support again in the morning and see what they come up with this time. I'm really quite pissed with them at the moment. I upgraded my phone a month ago(Galaxy S3 Mini) and have had to do 2x hard resets on it as well. So sick of this $#!+.

I am having a similar problem with my note 10.1. It seems all google related apps are affected when this happens. i triedwhat u mentioned Deon, it doesn't seem to work. Before it would work after a restart.

I've since dealt with Vodacom on this issue. They made me creat a new APN, which didn't resolve the issue. I then phoned again and they changed some of the settings on the new APN(deleting the 'proxy' & 'port' settings so it says 'not set'). This worked temporarily. A few days later the issue returned. I then checked and noticed that when I go into the APN settings, the device reverts to the old APN every time. I made the same changes to my original APN as they told me to make to the new one and it's working now. Will see how it goes.

Still not sure whether this is a Vodacom or Samsung issue.
