Yes it's possible but your phone would have to be rooted. There's a thread about it over on Xda Forums.

Learn from my stupidity (or inability to read properly) - it's only free in the Samsung App Store and not in the Play Store where I went looking for it

There may be a work around. Install stock rom your note 2 and do a backup with Titanium Backup, then install custom rom and restore the backup.

N4 = Nexus 4, not a Note 2. But its ok... my Google Navigation works fine ... It might still work on a rooted / rom'd Note 2?

Didn't notice that since this is a Note 2 thread, Route 66 is another nice option if you have a registered version.

My Note 2 is rooted, works without issues.

Went to Vodaworld yesterday to give Vodacom one last chance to see if they could price match Cell C on call and data costs before I port my number to Cell C and looked at there phone stock list which is at the main Vodacom Shop counter and is clearly states that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 No Stock Discontinued.

The do have the replacement "Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE" in stock.

I would look out for some good deals on the old Samsung Galaxy Note 2 3G as Samsung shops are reducing prices to clear stock. The price in some shops has already come down to R 7, 000.00

Apparently 800, 000 people are porting to Cell C a month.

Its discontinued with Vodacom because they are ONLY getting the LTE version from now on. IT does not mean Samsung is not making them and it certainly does not mean the other SP's will not be selling it.
