Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Cheers Unnamed. I think I'll be going with this option, but with the Giga 20, which seems a better deal.

Well it depends on your usage. I only use my 3G during office hours so i would rather save almost R100 and just have daytime only data. If you do not have internet at home then go for the Giga 20.

hi. some help please. how much data would i need if i take out a note2, bear in mind i have uncapped at home with wifi so all my downloads and updates will be done at home. and i will hardly be using the net on the phone as i have 10gb iburst at my office. basically will just be using whatsapp and a few other apps. and maybe a bit of streaming videos. how much data does streaming a 45min episode at 480p take?

Check out this website for a rough idea of how much data you will need.

I decided to go full out and load a custom recovery on my Note 2. I opted for Omega rom since that's what I'm using on my S3.

I'm very happy with 4.1.2 and apart from the new features my phone also uses about 150mb less ram.

I would recommend it to anyone that's thinking of trying another rom.

I am going to give Omega a go tonight. Did you keep the stock kernel?

I have a 2Gb Data only Post-Paid sim. The calls are charged at R1.50 per minute.
If you read above, scuzzy talks about the Post-Paid contracts. Where as you are talking about Pre-Paid :).
Read carefully next time bud. :).

This is what i am doing, I make at most, 10 minutes of phone calls a month, yet i use over 1Gb of data.

If its a Pre-Paid sim you can, the contract ones i don't think you can.

Aah yes, the man is correct! :P I actually also have a pre-paid data sim and was just throwing assumptions around that 99c applies to them all. Well, in all honesty, if you have the cash - go the prepaid data sim route in any case. Cell C has so many prepaid promo's going around - will be more beneficial.

^This. I wish i went the Pre-Paid. But i don't mind paying a little more for now :).

Does anyone know if the GT-N7100 is LTE compatible with MTN. I know on gsmarena it supports LTE but whether its supported by mtn im not sure.

How high are the chances of bricking the phone? I'm keen but VERY hesitant to try this as there's no way I can afford another Note 2.

Don't waste your time.

Have anyone tried Westcrips 4.2.1 rom, bussy downloading it now. Looking forward to giving it a try.

I've tried it.3 days.Uninstall.

My personal opinion is with a Note 2 it is pointless trying AOSP & AOKP roms and loosing all the special Note 2 functionality that the S-Pen brings to the table. If you are going to try different roms, try the ones that keep the S-Pen functionality intact. It what makes this phone different from the rest.

I use the S-Pen alot so thats just my opinion but if it isn't that high up on your list then give Resurrection Remix a try.Its a good rom running the latest Android version but for me it just makes my phone feel dumber.

That were my findings as well, uninstalled it after 10 minutes.

RR is running with 4.1.x AFAIK. Not 4.2?

My iPhone 4 paired with my car audio and hands free but my Note 2 only the hands free. What's the deal?

Also got the Omega ROM now. So far very good! Tried Wanamlite before that...IMO, OMEGA is better so far.
