I'm currently running a AOSP based 4.2.2 rom on my Note 2, I like to new features that comes with it although I do miss some of the Samsung features that's not available.

It's cool to muck around with custom ROMs (especially if you're a student!), but if you are working & very dependant on your phone, you just want it to work properly.
Very true. I rely on my phone for important calls, emails and work related tasks & appointment calendar events. One thing that I also missed in CarbonRom was the ability to record all incoming and outgoing calls, I also experienced some issues when using my Bluetooth headset.
Hopefully a Samsung 4.2.2 is not too far in the distant future.
My biggest benefit is that it is now even smoother and faster.
There is a lot of other nice customisation options built in, that I actually really prefer. But they needn't be enough reason to flash this ROM.
I like the difference in the notification menu. I found TW's notification menu less than super smooth. I prefer the stock Android camera, so far. I also just like knowing that I have the latest Android version with the most improvements built in.
I recently bought a bluetooth speaker, and Android 4.2.2 fixed an issue with Bluetooth A2DP audio streaming (before, I found that, every now and again, the song would 'skip' a beat).
TW is still a really good ROM.
I'll probably go back to TW someday.
Flashing a ROM, after such a long time, just made me feel...I dunno...*alive* again, you know? Like a geek god...even though I am probably far from it. (But this is also secondary to my primary reasons above)
Also, so far, I am not missing any TW functionality. If I run into something that I realise I am devoid of, I will report on it![]()

Thanks for the feedback... I think I will wait for samsung to release OTA or via kies. I used to have the latest updated firmware with my previous phones but in the end it started stalling and I dont want to have that problem with this phone. FYI I contacted samsung SA and they informed me that their technicians dont have the 4.2 firmware yet and therefore cant give me a date when they will be releasing the firmware
The first 4.2 will be released sometime in May/June, expect the South African release however to probably be six months or longer after the initial international release.
We will probably already have access to Android 5.0 by the time SA vendors release 4.2.
Yay got my chines covers and they look and feel pretty awesome for R50 each....
Looks very nice, great price as well. How does the quality and fit compare with the Case-Mate Barely There?
Really nice fit. Very comfortable to hold actually with a nice think plastic like lining around the phone. I would image it will have no scratches if it falls on the sides or back. In fact I'm so happy with it that I already bought more colours of the same case.
Back of the case is so smooth like a new polished car. Shining too so its a really nice case. For R50 I think its a absolute bargain........... I did notice with the weaker rand the price is slightly higher but not that much.
Still way cheaper and better than any local cases for the note 2
Anyone experienced an erratic SIM card error? my wife's note 2 has suddenly started giving a no SIM detected error, reboot the phone and everything is fine. It's happened about 3 times in the last few days.
Looks like 4.1.2 is now available through the software update for those on stock.
