Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Thanx for the info. How long did the delivery take? Do they deliver at your house or post office? Did you have any problems with SAPO or customs?

About 6 to 8 weeks.Normally to post office.Customs sometimes want their pound of flesh - about R30 - for items of about R150.

Thx for all the info. I ordered a spare battery and a cradle/charger for my Wifes S3 and an cradle for my Note 2 for under R400... That site is very cheap.

Hi guys & gals,

I have a question about the S-pen. On my Note 1, N7000, the pen had toe touch the screen to actually write something. But with my note 2, as soon as the tip comes close to the screen, without touching it, it starts to "write".

Is there a setting to correct this?

This far the only annoying thing about the 4.1.2 update is, when I open a website link, it automatically uses the default Internet browser, it doesn't give me the option to use chrome or dolphin

Noob question, but every now and then the screen will come on and show the time and number of emails and sms messages and then fade away to black again, the how does this work and how can I trigger it intentionally?

Go to Settings -> Motion -> Advanced Settings -> Quick Glance. But this just allows you to set what it displays.

Not entirely sure how it works, it's supposed to react when you reach for the device. But it also happens more at random than anything for me...

EDIT: Seems that if you float your hand over the screen from top to bottom, it will light up a second or two later...

It might be a fault with your s-pen being over-sensitive... It should not write until you actually touch the screen (it's hover functionality is for previewing things on the screen)

Try the above, or see if samsung will replace the s-pen - or see if you can try another s-pen on your note2, to determine if it is actually the s-pen.

You could also try turn air view off as a temporary measure

Thanks but I cannot get it to behave consistently. You can turn it off under /motion quick glance

what can one do to protect against the lock screen bypass bug, especially for people not rooted or using custom roms?

Your pen is miscalibrated. Same thing happened to me too and I posted about it earlier in this same thread. You can either go swap it in for a new pen wherever you got the phone from or alternatively, hold the pen at the back between thumb and forefinger and give the tip of the pen a few good, hard whacks on a glass, wood or metal surface. This is the advice I was given on the XDA forums and for some strange reason it really works. I had to do this for about a week before each use of my S-Pen. Its worked perfectly ever since :D
