Samsung Galaxy Note 2

How does the wifi direct work? Never used it before...

When sharing something to another samsung user, choose wifi direct. It will send the file over your wifi network, and if you don't have one currently, your phone will create one to which the receiver phone will connect. It is all much faster than bluetooth. 'superbeam' does the same thing without being proprietary to Samsung.

I have tried this before but it didn't work. I will try again and see what the issue is.

Both users most have the app and have wifi on, the second user should receive a notification to receive a file...

Sorry bro

its rather cool, if you want to send an item to someone with another Samsung device all you have to do is, in file explorer on your phone go to the item you want to send and then click on it, then share, then scroll to Wifi Direct and your phone users your wifi to send the data. So your phone becomes a transmitter and the other phone receiver and that's basically what happens. The other phone will receive a notification that they can either accept or decline the incoming data.

To send apps you have on your phone so someone else you can also use this function, you will just have to backup your apps first tho, I use My Backup Pro to backup my apps and go the file location which is normally under the reware file and just like that you sorted!

Does anyone have a "pure" cynogenmod rom on their phone? I see the devs are working on CM 10.2 currently but I am guessing it will be a while before 4.3 comes to the Note2.

I can only find nightly builds of cm10.1 and I have no idea how stable they are...

Please share your experiences !

Guys, a terrible thing has happened. I drop my beauty and the screen cracked.

The Samsung-approved repair shop in my area charges R2,600 for the repair. It's only the screen glass that is broken, but the LCD and touch seems to work perfectly. It can't be that expensive.

I found this replacement glass on eBay, but don't know how difficult it will be to repai DIY.

Have any of you tried replacing the glass yourself?

Thanks

My glass is also cracked, thanks for the link, but the link is a bidorbuy not eBay link.

Ask the Samsung shop what would they charge if you supplied your own parts.

I did something similar with my old HTC, I ordered the parts from phonextreme, and asked a local cellphone store to just replace the screen, they charged R150.

Let us know when you're sorted.

I replaced the glass on a Motorola MB525 (ordered spare glass on ebay and followed a guided youtube video). Was much easier than I had expected. Search youtube and see if there are any guides available for the Note 2 and how much effort would be involved. Base your decision on that.

Has anyone made a backup of the IMEI before flashing roms etc?

I would like to know which method you used.

Also, has anyone ever had the situation where you "lost" your IMEI while flashing roms?

I am not sure if you know this but if you have lost your IMEI no, look at the back of your phone behind that battery just above the barcode you will find the IMEI number

Thanks for the reply, but the possible problem isn't that I dont have the IMEI, what I meant was, if your phone "loses" its IMEI info, you won't be able to connect to any networks. Not sure about wifi etc, bet definitely no 3G.

From what I understand, the IMEI serves as an identifier of sorts for accessing mobile networks.

I just found out yesterday that this could actually happen, and none of the recovery methods includes the backup of your phones' IMEI data. Thus my reason for asking :)

This happened to my sometime back when I had my first android phone, galaxy S. What I did was I called my service provider and told them that I can not pickup 3G ect and they gave me the setting manually. After I saved that I restarted my phone and I could pickup HSDPA / 3G again. So try calling you service provider it might help

Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet, but thanks for the suggestion.

I wasn't aware that it is something that can be "programmed" manually. Interesting.

Can someone please help, my Fnb app on my phone is driving me crazy.

Every time I want to make a call, the phone give me a option of using the dailler or Fnb app.

I have reset app preferences more than 10 times, but Fnb still wants to be a dailler.

Please help someone.

What you need to do is go to settings --> Appplication Manager --> All --> click on the menu button (left soft touch button) and then reset app preferences

Thanks, but I've done this 20 times already and it still does the same.

Not sure whether you tried this (not apparent from your message) but when you are presented with the two options and you select dialler, is there not an option to select 'always' instead of 'just once'?
