Samsung Galaxy Note 2

So I've updated to stock 4.3 from India. So far I've found no real issues apart from the fact that the new Knox software and Samsung security policy breaks SuperSu after rooting. Pretty easy fix though - just update SuperSu from the Play store and reboot your phone and root SuperSu works fine. I made one stupid mistake though, and that's that I forgot that I recently wiped my SD card and my Titanium Backup schedule hadn't run yet, so I have no app backup at all. I have to reinstall everything manually now. Not that much of a hiccup but an annoyance brought about by my own stupidity.

This ROM is really fast. Haven't played much with it yet...

Last time I updated like this was on the S2 using the 4.1.2 rom and there was no info lost, just the update. Does this wipe everything?

Hi everyone, welcome to me on my first post! :)

Has anyone had major issues with their Note 2 this morning? I woke up and used mine for a bit, then left it alone while I had another snooze, and when I woke from that it was stuck on the Galaxy Note II N7105 screen that shows when it reboots. So I rebooted it again, and all I get now is a grey screen with diagonal lines all over it.

It's a stock phone, no root, no custom ROM, nothing.

Any ideas? I'm stumped and I can't do anything with the phone...

That's not good :C Maybe try removing the battery for 1 minute and then trying again? If that doesn't work, then I fear you'll have to swing by the store and have it repaired. Sorry :(

Has anyone had any experience with this Sudden Death Syndrome bug? My searches are leading me to it, but I can't find an accurate description of it so I'm not sure if this is the problem...

You can consider backing up your new rom in recovery, then restore the old rom if you made a backup thereof in recovery, then run Titanium Backup, put the Titanium Backup folder on your external sd card or pc, then restore the new rom via recovery, and restore via Titanium Backup from your external sd card.

The sudden death thing happened to my S3. Required replacement of the main board. But I've seen nothing about it wrt the Note 2...

Thanks DJ, can you tell me a bit about what happened? Like what were the symptoms on your S3? Most of the posts I've read say the phone just switched off and wouldn't turn on. But my problem is slightly different in that I can power up, but all I get is a grey screen.

Also, I can get into ODIN. But I can't get into the Android recovery menu.

That's exactly what happened to me. I could still get to cwm recovery, but nothing worked. I even tried a new pit file to create a brand new partition but that also didn't work. Eventually cost R2000 to fix as I bought it in Singapore and they told me here that the warranty didn't cover it in South Africa...

Battery on the stock 4.3 rom is okay. Frequent usage today.

Has anyone installed it? what new features are there? is it gear compatible? when is Samsung SA going to release the new firmware OTA?

Read up a few posts. I installed it. Functionality-wise I can't tell you what's new as I've been on custom ROMs since pretty much the day I got the phone, so I don't know what stock was like to be honest. It is however stable; has good battery performance; is super smooth and fast; does have support for the Gear afaik but I haven't looked into this as I don't own one; and afaik the OTA upgrades are released by the carriers, not Samsung, so you'll have to ask them.

Sammobile has the official version, so if you know how to flash a ROM then you're fine. It doesn't change your binary flash counter...

Well I thought rather than mess around installing the OS again myself I'd just take it in to Vodacom and they can sort it out. I got an sms a few hours later saying it went off to the Advanced Repair Centre for "higher level repairs". Thanks for the input! :)

Hi guys. I dropped my phone and cracked the screen. I was a bit impatient and got a replacement.
So I'm considering selling it as is. What is a fair price? The glass is cracked but other than that it still works.
Also any idea on prices if the glass only can be replaced, I'm not sure. Samsung came in at under 2k for the whole lcd unit.

Edit: It is the N7100 and about a year old.

Sounds like the board died, like my S3. Good luck. Hope it's covered by your warranty...

I discovered that the new 4.4 camera doesn't run properly on the stock 4.3 rom. I also found the pics to be inferior in comparison with the stock camera...

Are you talking about Cyanogen? Colleagues in my office did their Note 1's this week and mentioned that the default resolution of the camera is lower. You need to change the setting.

No, stock 4.3 was just released and I flashed it a few days ago. From sammobile...
