Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Just put my order in for my Galaxy Note. A little later than what i would have liked but its better than nothing :).

If I take the FNB deal will i be able to pay off the phone sooner ?? or don't they allow that , must i rather go the cash option ?

I am going to probably cancel my ipad 3 (32Gb 3g+Wifi) with FNB early. Will cost me R5400 once off. Which is not bad, i have had it since April/May i think.

Whoohooo! :D Got mine today. NOW to find a pouch to protect it.
The friggin Samsung store in Clearwater don't have covers. They recon the Note 2 is still to new. :wtf:

When are we gonna start seeing accessories for Samsung devices.
Apple accessories are around every corner and in any shape and size and color!

Also got mine today! Such an awesome phone.

Who here has rooted already? Some of the bloatware is already irritating me. I'd like to flash a rooted kernel but keep stock Samsung ROM for now. Any XDA links?

Ask Mke Smit, he is the expert

Thanks very much! Will do this in a while

Have you seen this thread with the stock roms?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696

How do I know which to choose in the future? The latest one listed there isn't the same as I have (and I did the OTA update yesterday).

I have :
N7100XXALIH N7100XXALJI1. And the latest for SA on that thread is:
N7100XXALIE N7100OJVALI9

Why do their basebands differ? Can I flash any ROM with the same baseband as I have now? Or should I change my baseband by flashing other ROMs if newer ROMs are released in the future?

Quick question. Thinking of getting a Note 2. Does it have voice guided GPS? Or will I need an app to do this?

It comes with Google Map's navigation, which is turn-by-turn voice guided navigation. Very decent and very accurate

I haven't really tested it but you can cache/download large areas of the maps for offline usage, which should technically then not use data as long as you are in the cached area. But I haven't really monitored it yet

I thought so too. Those 115 minutes are misleading. Olny 75 of those minutes are off-peak to any network, 25 minutes over weekends to other vodacom etc..

There's a nice deal on MTN. R200 airtime, 250mb data. For R429

MTN call rates are abit heavy. Don't need that much of data either.

Actually it's 75 anytime minutes to any network and 20 minutes over weekends to other vodacom. Per second billing too. http://www.vodacom.co.za/personal/phonesandpackages/smartstandard229

So not entirely sure how they get 115 Minutes PM.

Cool. And how's the data usage when using Google Maps?

I travelled from JHB to DBN last Dec and left Google Maps running the whole time so I could check just this.
The grand total was just under 11MB :)

Hardly uses anything. I only bother to cache maps if I think I may be going into an area with dodgy reception.

To be honest, I never bother checking basebands. I know I probably should, but not had issues.
Happy flasher this side :)

Which ROM have you got at the moment?

I wish the keyboard had Afrikaans. I type a lot of messages in Afrikaans and it would really help recognition when writing with the S-pen
