Samsung Galaxy Note 2

hi guys,
may have missed a similar comment as I did not read the whole thread so apologies in advance...

SO I'm having some serious issues with my note 2, it initially did the whole facebook/google/exchange sync etc for contacts, it has now gone a lost contacts which it then synced to the cloud subsequently deleting these details from the exchange server, seriously annoying but I left it assuming I did something in error so I left it.

Then the signal issues started, it will at random stop receiving/sms's calls until a reboot, this is now happening once every 2 or so days.

Then there are the reboots, for no reason while locked it will reboot, initially thought it was something pressing against it in my pocket but this has now happened while lying on the coffee table which is the final straw...
No rooting, no dodgy apps, fully updated.

Anyone experiencing anything similar? Taking it back to VC in the morning, had enough of this.

I've had my Note 2 for a few weeks now and I've not had any of those problems. It could just be a manufacturing fault.

Had my Note 2 for a month now. Do not have any of the problems you reported. May be you have a dud.

Get a replacement, definitely something wrong with it.

Hi all

Best wishes for the new year :)

Does anyone know of a Samsung based ROM that runs Android 4.2, or at least 4.1.2. ?

Thanks!

Which one are you downloading, and why? Odex or Deodex...

EDIT: I'm going for Deodex, it is zipaligned n'all anyways...

Hi all,

I just got my new Note 2, and it is awesome. Just one thing that is bugging me - how can you connect the Note 2 to the internet via PC using the USB cable. I know it can obviously be done using wi-fi, but I connect via a 3G modem connected to my laptop. On my old HTC sensation it was no issue, but I'd like to do it on my Note 2 as I need to re-install all my old apps, and don't want to use my cellphone data.

Thanks.

Simple just download Samsung Kies and install it on your laptop. http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

Then connect your laptop to the to the internet and then connect your Note 2 to your laptop via USB cable with 3G and WiFi tuned off.

so did you come right? or are you still sitting with the same problems?

@ Pakka and FreeStanler - did you guys flash that Indian 4.1.2 ROM? How is it? Any issues so far? Also, why did you decide to go for the Indian version?

Can someone perhaps recommend a custom ROM that is Samsung based?

Just flashed it today. Pakka recommended it to me.

I think it probably just the latest firnware version available, the 'Indian' one. It doesn't flash CSC, so it doesn't matter that it's the Indian firmware.

No problems thus far...

There a few Samsung based rom's out there. Go to XDA under 'Android development'...but I can't specifically recommend anyone though.

I believe there is a very stripped down one in there...

This may have been mentioned before but I thought it's worthwhile mentioning again. If your s-pen (stylus) is misbehaving - in my case it was writing before I had touched the screen - it's most likely miscalibrated. You have two options - get it replaced or simply grab it on the back end and give the tip a few hard whacks on a solid surface. It really works! :D

Ok i have 2 options 16gb note 2 lte or 32 gb standard note 2 both are the same price.....

Definitely the 32gb in my opinion.

LTE is not worth it compared to all that extra space, and you may have better development support on the non LTE version. HSDPA+ is very fast already and for most internet needs (except heavy downloading for which you need uncapped anyways) and for the price of mobile data, LTE is 'inconsequential' like BeVonk quipped earlier in the thread.

Anyone using a DSTV Drifta on their Note 2?

Getting the phone soon and was wondering if the app is available for the Note 2.

If so does it work fine and is it full screen?

Thanks :)

Game sells a microfibre cloth for glass for R15. It works brilliantly for tablet and phone screens to get those annoying smudges off. No spraying liquid or misting the screen with your breath required. I'm going to cut up a small bit and carry it around in my flip case.

Yes you get these packs of three microfiber cloths from places like Checkers and Pick n Pay for about R35, I use them to clean my car and bike but they work great on phones as well.
