Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Ok so basically not a single Vodashop in the entire Gauteng stocks the Note 2 anymore and according to their sales it could take even as long as 2 months. Apparently issues with the supplier. Some of the Vodashops don't even answer their phones, Vodashop at Vodaworld included (tried a dozen times, and their 082 111 couldn't even get through to them to help me check on stock).

Also Vodacom don't keep a database at all.

My only options are to either wait it out or cancel my contract when it comes to an end and go with another provider because it seems everyone else except Vodacom has stock.

By end April though I wonder if there won't be a better phone out in the same "category" of phones?

If you don't have your heart set on 5.5 inches and the S Pen, there is a host of awesome 5 inch phones that will be available. Including the S4.

The Note 3, although there will be lots of talk, will probably only be available q3 soonest.

So my phone is getting pretty hot at the back, and it 'feels' like the battery is dying too quickly... I checked 'battery' stats under settings and see this Mediaserver usage over 33%, even more than the screen. Googled it and it seems to be a widespread issue. Anyone know how to stop it?

Remove all music etc from your sd card, or upgrade to 4.2

I got my Galaxy Note 2 from Vodacom on Thursday afternoon at Menlyn and they still had plenty of stock there on the LTE model. I got a grey one and must I'm pretty chuffed with it so far, especially the audio quality is miles better compared to my old Galaxy S2. Nice strong speakers and its nice with the big display that you don't have to squint at the screen to read anything.

I was a Cell C subscriber and due for an upgrade and wanted to get the Note 2, but Cell C doesn't appear to stock them (or any smartphone worth its salt) anywhere here in Pta... After another couple of dropped calls on Thursday morning I decided to call it quits on Cell C and go back to Vodacom. **** Vodacom is expensive, but I appreciate a service that works and with the amount of people that keep on going to Cell C their network is only going to go further downhill from here... Must say LTE is lightning quick!

Btw, Vodacom in Menlyn also had stock of the Note 2 flip covers if anybody was looking for one.

I'll say this much.... It ruins every other phone for you. I don't know how I will eventually be able to "upgrade" to anything smaller.

Haha...somehow your reply just sounded wrong and made me laugh out loud. :) #dirtymind

You can make a few bucks selling your S2 and S3?

I'm just glad I made someone laugh today. :D

As for the S2 & S3, I may sell the S3 but the S2 was a cash in the heat of the moment buy so I'll loose a substantial amount if I were to sell it.

On another note, I hope someone can help me. I'm looking for a functional flip like cover for my Note 2. I bought a Body Glove flip cover and only realised after I bought it that the S-Pen cannot be taken out. (yes brunettes can have blond moments) So now I have to remove the Note from the cover every time I want to use the S-Pen.

And if you just make a hole in the flip cover?

Take it to a Barksole and ask the guy to make a hole in the cover with his punch. Sorted.

I did delete all music, videos and movies from both phone and sdcard and it's still showing (37%). Also tried the 'nomedia' file option I read about, no change.

My phone shows as version 4.1.1, checked for updates but nothing. Won't be rooting my phone because of warranties (and I'm clueless), any other options?

Sell it to me ;)

Any radio will do, you don't need a SA specific one. Have a look on Xda forums to see what other people recommend and use. Please note that you can only flash a radio for your specific device i.e 7100 (international) /7105 (LTE)

If you only loaded a new ROM you radio will still be the same one that came with your phone. Radios are flashed separately.

I know i can try a few radios and have done so. I want to know whats the stock one available in SA. Can someone check for me what it says under Menu, settings, about, baseband

wanting to get a galaxy note 2 soon. Which operator is offering the best deal at the moment...

FNB is offering the best deal on cash purchases.
You get to pay off the device over 24 months, interest free.

To check which network is running specials on the device, use the internet, and compare packages to networks, to see what you need and want.

Does anyone know how you can set up the phone to start playing music automatically when its paired with a bluetooth device?
