Samsung Galaxy Note 8-inch spotted

I saw the Qualcomm press conference from CES 2013 and it blew me away :). What i want to know is how does it compare in relation to this 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor? Perhaps it is too early to say but if anything, Snapdragon is what i will be looking for in the new toys coming out.

I must say that the screen size is just right so this should make some big headlines once it is out :).

I think a report like this just shows how 'pro-Android' and how 'anti-Nokia' this website really is.

Sure Engadget broke the Samsung Galaxy 8" story but I think the Nokia story is a much bigger story broken by TheVerge on 24 December 2012.

It is bigger than the Samsung story because of the following reasons:
1. Nokia is finally releasing a tablet (it has never done so before) and
2. It is a tablet that comes with a battery equipped keyboard cover as standard (there is always something extra [read as - better than the competition's] in a Nokia flagship device these days).

The only reason why the Galaxy 8" tab would be exciting is because it is direct competition to the iPad mini. That is all.

Who cares what Nokia does ? We're simply not interested - it doesn't run Android and that's it ! If it did run Android, then sure, if the price is right, I'd look .... Sorry, but once Nokia climbed into bed with Microsoft, they lost all respect and loyalty I ever had for them. And ALL my phones UNTIL Android were Nokias !

Oh ye of little faith and foresight.

Just another Apple ripoff. They've noticed the success or rumoured success of the iPad Mini and jumped on the form factor.

Samsung have brought a lot to the mobile industry by pushing the envelope as far as hardware is concerned but they just can't help themselves when it comes to nicking ideas. They are seriously the TICKS of the mobile industry...

I'm willing to wager big money that it will closely resemble the iPad Mini, only without the Apple polish.

Who cares?! The consumer wins in the end.

Are you serious?

Oh I agree. Samsung should actually be commended for falling in line when it comes to consumer trends but I just feel that the company should be seen for what it really is... Copycats.

And those who think otherwise are in serious denial regardless of whether it is good for the consumer or not.

Dead serious. They already have a Galaxy 7... Why on earth would they introduce a tablet only 1' bigger?

Samsung's venture into the consumer electronics industry is littered with this sort of thing. It's asinine denying it.

This is not to say they don't deserve their place alongside Apple at the top of the food chain.

Why not?? When apple made it sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread with a tablet that's not even 2" smaller than the original ipad....

And while I won't deny Samsung do perhaps copy their competitors a bit {as all companies do} and perhaps Samsung is more guilty than most but I highly doubt you were calling Apple out for stealing Samsung's 4" form factor {which was on the galaxy S, released June 2010} for their recently announced iphone 5 {released September 2012}.

The difference is that Apple didn't have a presence in the small tablet form factor while Samsung has for a while. You can call it coincidence that Samsung is releasing a form factor along the lines of the iPad Mini if you want to but I'm certainly not going to bury my head in the sand.

Straw man if there ever was one.

Then I'm sure you will happily call Apple out {as pointed out above} on their blatant copying of the 4" size {iphone 5} from samsung???

Of course I will.

I will also add that Apple are by no means the inventors of what they put out but they do take existing tech and package their products in a way that makes it appealing. They also have this habit of identifying and introducing exactly what the general consumer wants which leaves the likes of Samsung playing catchup.

Seeing as Samsung also have a 7.7 and a 8.9 as well as a 7, aren't Apple doing the copying?

Then why not continue with their 7.7 or 8.9 if it was working for them?

Who said that it was working for them? I'm just pointing out that Samsung have introduced 4 tablet sizes while Apple had only one until it blatantly and shamelessly invaded Samsung space with a mini version.

See what I did there ;)

Lol. Samsung doesn't have a space... They release a model in each size range (Multiple 4's, multiple 5's, multiple 7's and now we're moving to multiple 8's) and hope one gains traction.

Their 7's and 8's have been abysmal failures thus far. But you can be sure that this next one will take off... Wonder why?

You again... Posts like yours show how pro-Nokia and anti-Android you are. You still have not told me whether you work for Nokia or not?

1. This tablet is nothing but a rumour- about a rather unpopular vendor to boot. myBB are hear to provide news that the masses will read- and reading most of the comments here, most don't give a flying fig about Nokia.
2. The battery equipped keyboard- Asus did something similar with the Transformer like 2 years ago? So nothing new or better than the competition...

So...

Samsung, a company that has brought out tablets in a variety of sizes (7.7 inch, 8.9 inch, 10.1 inch) are now creating a tablet, slightly bigger than their current 7.7, and in line with the rest of their Note range, because of "rumours" of the iPad mini's SUPPOSED success?

Are you serious?

So not once did you consider that they were inspired by the Nexus 7, a tablet that is selling like hotcakes?
