https://www.nature.com/articles/s41746-017-0011-3Here, we recorded all touchscreen smartphone interactions at a sub-second precision and show that the unconstrained day-to-day behavior captured on the phone reflects in the simple sensorimotor computations measured in the laboratory. The behavioral diversity on the phone, the speed of interactions, the amount of social & non-social interactions, all uniquely influenced the trial-to-trial motor variability used to measure the amount of intrinsic neuronal noise. Surprisingly, both the motor performance and the early somatosensory cortical signals (assessed using EEG in passive conditions) became noisier with increased social interactions.
Lustig says he wants to change this by drawing boundaries around socially acceptable smartphone use. If we can make a smartphone "addiction" taboo (like smoking inside buildings, for example), people will at least have to sanction their phone time off to delegated places and times, giving their brains a break.
"My hope is that we will come to a point where you can't pull your cell phone out in public," Lustig says.
Your phone scans your retina and your face and your fingerprints, who's really in charge here?
What's not in the fine print of your Galaxy S10 instruction booklet:

That noise in all your heads is not imaginary:

The US National Institutes of Health recently released preliminary findings that 9-year-old kids who use "devices" for over seven hours a day show "premature thinning of the cortex". This was reported by Anderson Cooper on CBS's 60 Minutes. Cooper said that this evidence of severe brain damage is "fascinating":

The programme doesn't mention that "premature thinning of the cortex" really means what happens to your brain in your sixties as your brain cells start dying and you start going senile. These 9-year-olds' brains look like those of senile senior citizens. This is "very fascinating", according to the NIH.
In 2015, the average "device" use by US teenagers was nine hours a day. So it is literally a no-brainer that we have permanently damaged the brains of an entire generation of young people.
In Korea, several studies report over 30% of kids showing signs of severe smartphone addiction. At least 3% of Korean kids are now totally socially withdrawn and non-functional, these kids don't leave their bedrooms. In Japan, where this is also common, they are known as hikikomori.
Please keep this all very quiet. Apple smartphone sales are tanking in China; smartphones sales are dropping globally for the first time since they hit the market. The slightest hint that these devices are destroying all your brains, and that is the whole global economy down the drain. The only growth market for these devices is Africa, and this means South Africans must keep especially quiet about this. You know what to do.
That Business Insider story quotes an endocrinologist called Robert Lustig. He describes how these phones are designed to trigger all kinds of addictive biochemical responses:
You'll see, you think this is a joke, cellphones really are the new cigarettes. It's already far too late for the current generation of kids. Ask any teacher, their brains are simply not present.
Keep this quiet. Keep this very quiet. You've been warned.
Not sure if anybody posted this.
Wish I had the money to buy the Snapdragon version.
