Samsung Galaxy S5

Android 5.0 is actually quite a big deal, and all tech sites agree it's the biggest Android update in years.

You can read Engadget's review here : http://www.engadget.com/android-lollipop-review/

Just remember that you will only experience pure Android 5.0 with a Google Nexus device, or a Google Play Edition device.

Most other manufacturers, like Samsung and HTC, skin the OS with their own UI - Touchwiz and Sense. This waters down the pure Android experience considerably.

I do actually like the latest version of Touchwiz on my Galaxy S5.
I still don't get why people reply to him in this thread.

S5, hands down the best phone I've ever owned. I loved my S3 which I never even bothered to upgrade when the S4 came as I was just so happy with it and it never gave me a day's crap. But eventually I got the desire to upgrade to the S5.... it's not a massive change from the S3, it has a few new gadgets (fingerprint reader, heart-rate monitor, better camera, etc), but the best "upgrade" is screen size and performance in general. Love it!

+1 on all points :)

Correct.

Opened Odin, selected 4.4.2 UK BTU ROM and ten minutes later all done.

No other files needed except the BTU ROM? On other forums they talk about EFS and stuff like that which i don't have any idea of. Will downgrading trip the Knox flag due to different bootloader?

Just want to ask the experts before i brick my device.

Thanx

You need Odin 3.09 and an official Samsung KitKat ROM. I am using the UK BTU ROM, works perfectly with any service provider in South Africa.

That's it. Knox will never trip if you use an official Samsung ROM, but might trip if you use the wrong ROM for your phone.

The LTE version of the S5 is called SM-G900F. If you are not sure, just go Settings > About Device .

And that's all there is to it. For the physical flashing, just search Google, thousands of articles have been written about it.

Thank you so much for your advice.
I have the G900f and have the BTU ROM. Was just scared i might miss something. I flashed the phone with tha BTU ROM and Lollipop with Odin, so am quite comfortable with the process. Will give it a go. Don't think that Lollipop is there yet. Mostly app compatibility issues.

Fix for the Facebook issue: uninstall then install from amazon app store.

You "could". :D

Google doesn't like competition in its own store & rightly so.
Lol, I've always just downloaded and installed the apk from amazon.

Anyway it's a working solution. Talle it or leave it.

I started having the same issues again and did the above now it works perfectly.

My problem is will Kalahari still honour the warranty when they fall under TakeAlot brand

I would hope so.. take a lot is very good. My non lte s5 that the wife uses' charger door fell off after 3 months and they gave me a new one.

My goodness. A factory reset and this phone is blindingly fast now. Lollipop u are awesome.
