I solved the biggest gripe I had with Lollipop, by installing Lollipop on my S5 again and testing it.

Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about the white backgrounds.

Samsung knows a lot of white backgrounds is an AMOLED display battery killer, but I guess they want you to upgrade to the S6.

Yes, yes and yes.

Why Google decided that all backgrounds must be white, is beyond me. It really kills an Amoled phone.

Maybe it shows Lollipop's animations, etc better on a white background?

That is why Google baked Project Volta into Lollipop - to save the battery with all the white backgrounds.

Lollipop is not designed with Samsung in mind. The very least Samsung can do is protect the battery with dark colours.

Granted even on the N5 the white is a little too much, but it does look nice with the ?teal? writing. And the battery drain is not nearly as dramatic as with Amoled.

I use Nova launcher - app drawer is dark

I would even go so far as to say Lollipop is a very racist Android ROM.

The black got replaced by the white....this is not going to fly in South Africa!

Zuma and ol' Gwede must sort this out and complain to Google!!

To be honest, I always had to use dark colours and backgrounds on the S2 and S5 to improve battery life. On the N5, it does feel a little bit refreshing using light colours because it doesn't really make a difference.

LOL I have to be honest. My opinion is an uninformed one. Once my daily driver has Lollipop I'll do a final judgement.

Not worried about battery time, more the look of the whiteness.

My screen on time is not much, so it doesn't bother me at all. I have actually changed some of my apps that have the light/dark setting to light from dark in preparation... so my eyes can adjust to the bright lights. You know, I'm a mogwai like that
