Samsung Galaxy S5

Anyone with a quick and easy rooting guide? What is this KNOX thing about, will it prevent certain things from running?

I haven't rooted my S5, but check out CF-Auto root on xda. It's pretty much foolproof (iirc from S4)

Yeah seen that, almost did it but chickened out lol. Concerned with this KNOX crap.

KNOX is over-rated.

People have sent their phones in with KNOX tripped and still got them repaired under warranty.

Yes i know that, but there is always the likely hood that they will turn around and tell you to sodd of. This is South Africa afterall, they will go at anything which enables not having to lift a finger.

Is it possible to root, but remove the yellow triangle?

If you root it you void your warranty, it will trip KNOX to 0x1, thus disabling knox container. Not sure what yellow triangle you referring to.

@genetic - Never had to take a phone in for repair, so i wouldnt know.

When you boot up, the telling sign that you've rooted in the exclamation mark in the yellow triangle on the Samsung splash screen.

Can you 'unroot'?

Yup. But I don't have any yellow triangle nonsense?

Knox counter was also tripped on the S4 that was replaced under warranty.

Do you get any notifications when android is running, that you are running as root, etc?

Did you use the CF-Auto Root method?

The odd message from SuperSU when an app requests root access... if you go into the phone's about menu it shows custom not official, ummm...
That's about it really.

Surfing web and surfing forums via tapatalk. Seems almost like RAM issue. How do I access task manager. Prefer old menu on bottom left. This recent app tab not my cuppa tea.

Even photos seem slow but assume due to high quality pics. Old S2 and S3 seemed faster?

Gallery has always been slow, software needs lots of optimizing there. But i have not noticed any lag yet.I am just fighting to try and prevent this stupid AllCast, Flipboard and a few other services automatically updating/installing.
