It was yes. But on 5.1.1 i can sort it. Each to his own. I find with the custom launchers, I have to fiddle around for hours and hours, to the point of just getting fed up and uninstalling them. Stock launcher for me for now.

That looks so risky....

What will I loose and if I take my phone to Vodacom in the future for some reason will my warranty and all that still be valid...

This feels sooo rooty.

This is not rooting at all...
The firmware is official Samsung firmware.

See it as you reinstalling windows on your laptop, with the same licensed copy.

I got to the part where I have to connect my S4 and then Odin didnt pick it up. Nothing happened. Used a generic USB cable to connect the phone. Perhaps it will work with the official Samsung cable? Anything I did wrong perhaps?

could be driver related... what does your phone connect as when you plug it in.

You can install Samsung Kies just to make sure you have the correct drivers loaded. Once your phone connects to Kies, Odin will work. Also try to enable mobile debugging under Developer options.
 
Okey what link must I use for my S6 from vodacom ? this is not the edge, jus tthe normal one.

Just wait a while and the download will arrive through the regular OTA system once Vodacom releases it ;) Settings -> About Phone -> Update.

But aparnetly that will only happen near 2018 when android snow marvel is released.

I tried, and eventually was successful in the flashing of 5.1.1.

When clicking start, it just wasn't doing anything. Eventually found an article that helped me with the exact order of plugging in everything before starting.

1. Start the latest Odin v.3.10.x
2. Click AP, select the unzipped firmware file. Wait for it to successfully check the file hash.
3. Switch of phone.
4. Wait about 10 seconds, and only then put it in download mode.
5. AFTER it is in download mode, connect it to the pc.
6. Wait for the added message to appear in Odin.
7. Hit start.
