Samsung i600 (HSDPA) & USSD problems

I think you could also use Samsung PC Studio 3.0 to use your phone as a modem. It available for download free from Samsung's site.

100% Correct!

I use a SAMSUNG U700, connected via USB to my pc (running XP), and I used the included Samsung PC Studio 3 software to set up my internet connection. In other words, I didn't even need to do a manual dial-up connection, as you described.

Works like a charm! :)

I noticed something interesting: when I click on the icon to connect to the internet, it takes anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds to open the "Connect to" window. Is that normal?

Not a hassle ... just wondering ...

The i600 is a Windows Mobile device, so it's not compatible with the PC Studio 3! :-(

Read your manual. Theres a bit about the Internet Connection Sharing and how to use your phone as a modem.

I did it the other day with a HTC S710. Its not that hard.

As far as i can remember, i turned on ICS, plug it in via USB(Active Sync then went offline), the modem started installing, i wne to Network and Sharing Center, and connected.

Its almost the same as with the other HTC's that have Windows Mobile. All of them(or the ones i've come across) have "Wireless Modem" option, where you switch that on, and do exactly as mentioned above.

Ok great. So I followed this
tutorial, and I have connected now successfully through bluetooth.

We at the point now where using the internet connection sharing wizard, the machine see's the connection (and creates a new network) but it's seeing this network as local only. The only thing I can think is that my GPRS setting (sent from Samsung aren't 100% correct).

These are the fields I can fill in:
Connects to: "The Internet" (drop down box, also can choose WAP Gateway, WAP Network, Work, Secure Wap Network)
Accesspoint: internet
Username:
Password:
Athentication Type: None
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Address:

Then under proxy:
Connects from: The internet (drop down box, can also be same as above)
Connects to: WAP Network ( drop down box, can also be same as above)
Proxy: 196.6.128.12:8080
Type: HTTP
User Name:
Password:

Now...what settings should I change if any, so that the internet connection sharing wizard allows an internet connection and not only a local connection? I must note here that the internetexplorer on the phone works for surfing the web!

When I delete the proxy, the built in internet explorer doesn't even connect! :-(

Just thought I'd update:

I got it working YAY! I called Samsung who ran through the usual Do you have a virus guard, are you working offline etc etc...then sent me new settings called Vodacom4ME (different to the Wap.GRPS I got from them earlier, and Internet.GPRS I got from Vodacom) and it works.

From what it looks like, IC was correct. The Vodacom4ME setting doesn't have an attached proxy, it's just "Connects to: The Internet" and internet for the APN and it works!

The difference was that his phone had windows mobile 6.
Upgraded my software from windows mobile 5 to windows mobile 6.
