I see that only the PDA part of the your ROM had been upgraded to the latest but the phone part is still the old ROM. Not sure if you have installed the Samsung CDMA USB driver on your PC from the Samsungblog. If you don't have this installed, you won't be able to upgrade the phone part of the ROM (had the same problem with my Omnia before).

No sms thread mode for the new ROM at the moment, have not checked the registry settings yet. Too lazy as my dad never use that view.

Do you have a link to that driver?

That's the issue with me ... it asks for that :/ On the same site ?

Thanks ...

It downloads a setup which seems to install active sync again though?

I installed the USB driver sometime ago, don't recall it has anything to do with activesync.

If you had the USB modem driver instaled, try flash your phone again. Have you read the i780 upgrade guide?

Yup - 10 times ;)

Oh well ... majority works alright

Yea - the thing is definatley the Samsung CDMA TEchnologies.

I've downloaded the zip from your link, unzipped and clicked 'setup' - but it sets up ActiveSync 4.5 again. The only thing that *may* be different is this active sync includes that driver (from a Samsung site) whereas the previous one I had (from an MS site), didn't.

I'm trying a 4th time now.

Same error :(

I give up ....

Judging from this, http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-...3810/port-create-retry-download-failed-dxhi2/

I'm lucky my phones still works ;)

Thanks guys!

Hmm strange. Have a look at: http://samsungblog.co.za/blog/mobi/...i900-firmware-now-available-download#comments
Port Create retry (25) till (0)
Download failed!!

Got this directory: windows/system32/driver

and rename the modem.sys to something like modem.sysback

Ok now go to control panel >> add and remove programs, and remove all the Samsung USB drivers (everything) restart you PC.

Install the USB driver again and try upgrading.

It should work fine now :)

Hmmmm ... when I double click on the driver it said 'installed'.

I even restarted and tried - but failed.

But when I went into device manager it seemed like it wasn't installed correctly, even though it said it was. I updated it from device manager and I think it'll work now.

Gimme 5 min ....
