I have a Samsung Note 10.1 2014 LTE SM-P605 with 2.3. Can I upgrade to kitkat?

I'm with Vodacom. I'm tempted to try a none SA firmware. Has anyone tried it?

After gaining confidence in Lollipopping my S4, I upgraded my tablet (Note 10.1 2014) from 4.3 to 4.4.2 (I cant remember which country I used though - edit: Luxembourg, I think it was)
It is working well so far.

I also have an MTN P605 - and it was stuck on 4.3. MTN and Samsung each told me they were waiting on the other for the firmware to be available. That was useless.

Used Odin and installed the United Kingdom (BTU) 4.4.2 firmware that I downloaded from sammobile. I didn't lose any data, upgrade went fine and it didn't trip the "knox warranty void" indicator - so all is well.

Android 5.1.1 for Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition (P605)

Android 5.1.1 is out in several countries for the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition (P605).

My Note 10.1 2014 edition (P605) on Vodacom has been on Android 4.3 since 2013.
It's now the third year with this tablet stuck on Jelly Bean (Android 4.3).
When are we getting Android 5.1.1 in South Africa on the Vodacom network?

Hmm, my wifi USA model has a 968.55MB download coming through.

Hopefully that is 5.1.1. (was on 4.4.2).

You've got a Samsung device and you're hoping for updates? That's hilarious

OK, so I have 5.1.1 on my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (SM-P600).

It may be Vodacom and MTN that are holding the OTA updates back.

Well as far as tablets go I actually have always thought the 10.1 is one of the best out there. Especially out of the ones one can get locally on contract. Just don't expect updates after a Samsung device is over a year old and if it's over 2 years old you'll die if you hold your breath.

I downloaded the latest 5.1.1 I think from Sammobile. Really worth the upgrade and has given the device new life with the refreshed touchwizz that is much leaner.

Are you also using the P605 (LTE version)?

Which firmware on Sammobile did you use, i.e. for which country, for 5.1.1 to update successfully?

Does the S-pen still work after updating to 5.1.1?

I'm on 605(LTE) I used a scandanavian ROM 5.1.1 from Sammobile. Everything works like a bomb. (Except no root exploit as yet, but I have faith in my XDA brethren.)

Thank you very much.
Before I extract (unzip) the firmware file and extract the Odin ZIP file (as indicated under the instructions on SamMobile), do I need to root the device first?
If yes, can you please suggest how or a link to root the P605.

Nope. Dont need to root.

It is probably also worth doing a factory reset after upgrade.
