Samsung Omnia HD - i8910

No idea, he got a 'new' phone today after bricking his previous phone, so he is back on track with making the phone work. He keeps talking about a previously stopped project, so it might be the skinning of the Music player, backup function or maybe getting it to work properly with PC Studio. No idea. i just love getting kewl new things to do with my phone.

Hi All, any update on the new firmware release yet?

No not yet. He is trying a few things out on his Nokia N8 first. If any of you have a Nokia N8, check out his video camera modification.

That would be nice. It looks like his is modding the firmware so that the phone use different speed variations depending if it is idling or working hard.

Good news. HX is back on track working on the i8910HD. His attention was taken up by the Nokia N8 for awhile. We expecting more news during the weekend. It looks like possible 99% compatibility to existing Nokia phones 7 6 different over-clocking settings, all managed by the HX-patcher.

From my side; You want Swype on your phone? Yeah, the one from Nokia doesn't work on our phone, BUT go to forum.dailymobile.se and search under applications for S60 for Modded SlideIT & Dayhandkeyboard. Awesome.

Hey AJ the Alternate Reader wasnt quite cutting it so i installed the eReader app and i now use Calibre ebook software to convert to PDB format, its awesome so far.

HX V10 will be released the next couple of days. If we lucky, it might be even tomorrow.

It looks like V10 got skipped. Version 11 has just launched and looks awesome. Busy backing up my current stuff now. HX V11

New things:
Processor: Dynamic Scaling or full 950 MHz
QT part of firmware
Change your phone to numerous other Nokia phones with ID changer. Select X6 and sync with OVI PC Suite
4 row keyboard
Backup Tools fully operational
Swype
HX patcher now upgradeable without re-flashing of phone

Hey, have you tried out V11? I cant find a link to DL the latest firmware?

I tried out vs V11-5 and i love it. On the page i mentioned, look for text at bottom saying "Main localisation for English..."

things are quiet on the i8910 news front and with 5 months left on my contract im starting to look at the possible options come renewal.. so far its iPhone 5, Motorola Atrix and possibly a Meego or WP7 phone thats looking good at the time, so what are you folks looking at?

Meego is still too "new". I will wait another year or two before looking at it. Windows Phones 7 looks very promising but it is also not there yet and unfortunately some of the services are cut of for certain countries. But there is always the jailbreak option.

Supposedly Motorola is very much anti-modding community and have encrypted their bootloader, so don't expect modding soon on the new super phones (Bionic) from Motorola.

Android seems like the promised land, but there are a lot of small issues, that makes the promise land a lot less inviting; phones that cannot upgrade to latest Android versions (hardware not supporting features), networks and phone companies fighting and then not allowing upgrades, etc.

Personally I don't like Apple's closed garden and I like their general 'blind following" users even less. "The phone or feature or app never existed before Apple made it".

Galaxy Tab is just way too small for a useful tablet (typing long emails or working long periods of time). There will be amazing tablets coming out later this year in any case.

So ignoring everything I said, buy something that works NOW! If you want a Win7 or Android phone, check out the existing modding communities (if you are that inclined), but don't buy the phone because of it's supposed potential. By the time the phone's software is reaching its potential, your hardware is out of date.

Try Mobireader , been using it on my phone for a few months nowto read epub's . just don't try to switch it to fullscreen reading , a slight bug in it concerning that

Ah we can hope right? Its not all doom and gloom, sure theres issues but a jailbreak on the iPhone or a hack on the Atrix will come along. Not to mention the awesome line up of tablets this year : Playbook, Xoom, Asus etc. I found it quite the opposite, for me the hardware on the Omnia is still great it was an already established Symbian that couldnt keep up. All in all 2011 is going to be a great year full of choices :)

is there any other way to get photo's & video's off this phone? don't have blue tooth on my pc either, seems the usb cable is not working all of a sudden. plug it in and is starts charging but does not ask if I want to connect to PC suite. when I run PC suite it does not see the phone? Phone's usb setting is set to PC suite.

tried to factory reset the phone but I don't have the lock pin? if u know it please share it?

Which version of PC Suite are you using?
Are you using an hacks? HX? (If so, to what phone is it set?)

You can also set it to memory and then navigate to it like a external harddrive.
