Samsung Pay debit card coming soon

Samsung plans to launch a Samsung Pay debit card later this year, according to a blog post by the company.

Samsung said the debit card will be backed by a cash management account that will be enabled through a partnership with personal finance company SoFi.

Don't understand the purpose of this, the reason for me to use samsung pay is not to carry the physical card... Am I missing something?

I don't know about the usefulness of a Samsung debit card or even Samsung pay on the phone.
I installed Samsung pay on my phone a couple of months ago and used it a couple of times, but ultimately, I wondered why I didn't just use the actual bank credit cards themselves.. Probably easier and more suited to the credit card machines in the shops so I uninstalled the app and the actual credit cards from the bank works just perfectly and no hassle..
It feels a bit obsessive to try use a clunky cell phone as a credit card or even a phone manufacturer debit card as a bank credit card to be honest.
