Samsung Plasma more specifically the PS42

Hi,

I have a problem with my Samsung Plasma PS42 - It's 1 month out of it's warranty and I have a "no picture" problem. I get sound coming through but no picture. I can't even access the menu, the screen is completely dead.

I want to find out if anyone else is having this problem with Samsung tv's or more specifically the PS42 model. My girlfriend works at a place who have a 46" Samsung and she says they are having the same problem - sound but no picture. Is this a problem with Samsung tv's?

How do I go about getting my TV replaced? Who do I complain to? Samsung call center just tells me I need to send it for repairs (at my expense), but if Samsung is making poor quality products they need to recall these models.

There should be a more specific model number available. PS42 ? ? I also assume you have not changed anything on the TV at all? If you search on AVS forums, you'll find how to factory reset the TV via the remote. If this doesn't work, then you'll have to have it repaired.

I had to send it for repairs, cost R1500. (I'll have to check the exact model number when I get the TV back.)

I won't be buying a Samsung TV again, I'd rather get a no name (Sinotec/Logik) which comes with a 5/3 year warranty.

Pity they don't make plasma, so your TV/sports will never look the same again...

Samsung LCDs have 3yr warranties.

Samsung LCD's, LED's and Plasma TV's only carry a 12month warranty. Their PC LCD Monitors come with 3yr(see link below)

Sorry, my bad. Must've been another [well known] brand I've seen offering 3yr warranties?

Not sure about response time, but if you want decent TV/sport on LCD you've gotta pay for 100+hz higher-end models.

Not necessarily. I have 3 years on my Plasma. Signed and sealed from Samsung. Just depends when and where you buy from.

Yeah I'm sure I've seen Samsung LCD TVs with 3yr warranties.

Started about a year ago. It was Sony vs Samsung at that stage and both were extending, and extending.....the warranty/guarentee periods. They settled on 3 years.

If you search on AVS forums, you'll find how to factory reset the TV via the remote.

On the remote;
Info, then Menu, then Mute, then Power all within 3 seconds.

I've just looked at a Game and Makro catalog, they both show sony & samsung with a 1year

Mine came with 3 year guarantee
