Samsung PS60E550

Any chance I can get a copy of that pm... Also in the market for something similar sized :)

Nothing special mentioned. I got that price from someone who owed me a favour.
But I know that with a little negotiation u could get it for R38800.
Times are tough and the retailers will do a deal.

Are you happy with it? There is another thread regarding buzzing on the 64 E8000

I'm also torn between the 60 E550 and the 64 E8000

Just sold the galaxy tab it was bundled with for R3300....so effectively the tv cost me R34500.
Good deal methinks. :D

Dion wired has E550 @ R17k in Tokai. Sat down and watched some Avatar and was dissapointed in the way panning shots displayed judder. Almost hauled out the the old plastic to take it but now...

Judder comments please between this and the 8 series 51 inch

Cant comment on the E8000, but on the E550 its just something you have to live with.

Note, even the Film Mode: Cinema Smooth setting for 24p input over HDMI (e.g. Bluray) is also ineffective at smoothing out panning judder. Was hoping it would be fixed at some stage, but no change in the last 3 fw releases (up to latest 1016.3).

Roman4604, have you tried the following to fix the judder?
Source

Disable SyncPlus which you will find in SmartHub (probably last page of app's). Also be sure to locate the terms and condition setting for this application and disable it. Firmware 122.2 installed SyncPlus as part of the update - 1023.2 did nothing to fix the issue.

P.S. You can find the terms and condition settings in the Privacy Notice section, just uncheck "Agree". Along with disabling it, streaking/blinking/random lines across screen should cease!

Found this is a review for the E6500 and is the first explanation on judder that makes sense to me

Quote..
First, we checked the “Cinema Smooth” output mode, which will be the go-to mode for film lovers, since it provides judder-free, cinema-like motion with 24p Blu-ray movies. By default, Samsung plasmas output 24hz films at 60hz, which causes motion judder. The fact that the option has to be selected at all has its roots in the fact that previous Samsung PDPs had poorer black level performance in the “Cinema Smooth” mode, but the performance discrepancy is no more with the E6500.

So thats why.... seems E6500 for me

Let me know when you find the E6500 locally :p AFAIK Samsung SA only bring in the E550 and E8000.

No SyncPlus app installed by default in the SA SmartHub, anyway not sure how an app would have anything to do with motion processing.

A few people at AVS Forums claimed it worked, so I thought it was worth a try.

I would go for the Series 8 if you can, as it has a proper anti-glare coating.

I have the 51-inch E550 and although the image is superb you need to switch all the lights off and place it very carefully so as not to have reflections on the screen.

Never mind seems I'm way too late.

The larger the screen gets the poorer the quality will be especially for SD. It's a simple case of the same resolution being stretched onto a bigger frame.

Is there a way to sort AllShare source folders by date?

I'm using Serviio and within that there's a "Last Added" folder but it lists the items by name instead of date. On my PS51D550 it lists by date though.
