and just a few weeks back I received a marketing email from samsuck. when i replied and vented my frustration, I was assured their service has improved dramatically and that their after sales service was voted best in SA... luckely I didn't belive a word!
I gave my Samsung D330 or something away for a cheap Nokia 2600, the stupid seasons themes couldn't even be configured to be in a Southern Hemisphere mode...
Samsung CRT screens are killer though, so sharp and crisp...
It is indeed unfortunate that Combase went under, but I hardly think one can blame Samsung for that (except maybe for a lapse in judgement in appointing the repair company). You can be sure that Samsung will be looking for a suitable replacement company. When my wife's E700's handsfree stopped working after the phone was severely dropped, the repair took four days under warranty.
I'm fairly happy with Samsung as a brand and the new Samsung Z540 is a truely stunning phone in terms of configurable features, network support and its adherence to excellent radio-frequency standards. It's very hi-res, crispy displays are nice too
As with any brand, you win some and you loose some. The important thing is to research the product properly before you buy. This is true for any product - and the 'net makes this so much easier these days.
