Samsung seeks killer design

The obvious solution is to get a designer from Europe - or have European design studios do the designs. Since the Korean motor manufacturers started doing this their cars got far more appeal. The Koreans are extremely good engineers and can achieve amazing engineering feats in very little time ... but they just haven't got the touch for the sort of designs the Western markets desire. They will always make very cool cutting edge gadgets but not desirable fashion items. This is holding Samsung back but the die-hard loyalty of that culture will not allow for changes. We will always get get plastic feeling devices with elements that stick out from them - like a component has been added as an afterthought. That beautiful integration and simplicity is not there.
 
Interestingly enough the "zen design principles" used by Apple comes from the Far East. Instead of that smooth oval shaped pebble in the stream (Apple) the Koreans give us a piece of obsidian.
