So i got myself a samsung 46" led. Model number is ua46d5500RR.

Im really disappointed thou that it doesnt have any hd upscaling like other samsung tv's for content of a usb. Could a firmware update change this?

There's no hd upscaling like other LED Tv's. The video files are still in standard def

If it's playing it in full-screen then yes it is being upscaled. All Hdtv's upscale to their native resolution. You're probably expecting the quality to improve.

Let me be the first one to say it. It's not an LED TV but a LED-backlight LCD TV. But anyway ...

I'm quite sure your non-HD content isn't going to be miraculously "upscaled" to suddenly become 1080p (when compared to a 1080p source).

And what "other LED Tv's" are you referring to?

If you were going to watch mostly SD content you should have got a plasma.

Thank you! Nice to see others taking a stand against marketing BS and general ignorance.

I think we all know this. It's just been repeated so many times that it's not worth bothering anymore.

Don't know hey, those that know are certainly in the minority, even those who browse tech sites and claim to know a thing or two don't know...

Had some beautiful chats with them, to a point where they were so wrong they resorted to personal insults and calling me poor for buying non 3D entry plasma... LOL. :D:D

But ja, point taken. Still, should be pointed out as often as possible IMO!

I have the next model up 46d6000 and I can make the media player not scale, partially scale, fully scale, over scale (zoom), depending on the settings.

Still dont understand what isnt happening? Are you refereing to picture size or quality?

It's quite apparent that you aren't aware of what the term "upscaling" actually means. As others have explained, standard def is standard def. No TV will change that. I suggest you try some true HD content on the TV mate.

I have the UA46D5000 myself and loving it.

Just bought the same 46" at the opening special at makro in cape town. Great improvement over my previous 32" in the loungue ;-)

HD pictures look great in it, but i need to get the network up and running still so i can use it properly ;-)

Hi there, how much did you get it for?

LOL like a broken record. Over and over like it makes a difference.

Sadly dude samsung cannot magically make sd content hd content.
