Samsung VS Sony

@Roman4604 - Hows your experience with the 46D6000?
So far pretty happy with it.

The UltraClear panel produces a really sharp, vivid, high-contrast FHD picture (off HDPVR & PS3 Bluray), the most important aspect for me. 200Hz motion handling works well, and the other gimmick features are interesting to play with e.g. 3D better than I expected, and some of the SmartTV Apps are mildy useful, like Youtube, Google Maps, News24, Accuweather etc.

Thanks for your response.Any thoughts on the D5500 LED?
I think it has the same panel, but with a downrated engine. From what I could see not true 100Hz, only has the LED motion handling capabilities, and lacking the horsepower to do 3D.

In my opinion was worth the extra money for the D6000 with a proper 100Hz engine + LED motion capabilities = 200Hz CMR rating.

Prefer the Samsung. Better build quality, more advanced electronics, better power supply and the LED light controller on LED TVs is very fast

What is better about the Samsung power supply?
And what is a LED light controller? And what is fast about it?

Digital Experience has the UA46D5500 for R8995.100HZ LED backlit .What youll think?Worth it?
Also now have the LA463630 for R8995

You'd have to test yourself, as always.

It will probably have less light bleed issues (test in a dark room with black pic), and it won't be affected by LED-LCD light spots (areas where light isn't diffused properly, I think) which is quite a common problem. Also, I think the D5500's 100Hz technology (Clear Motion Ratio) is different to a perhaps "true" 100Hz engine, which the 6 Series LCD has? Perhaps Roman can comment as I remember him talking about it.

There is a difference with the Clearmotion and general 'Refresh' rate. Using the D7000 range as an example, they are rated with Clearmotion at 600hz whereas the refresh rate is actually 240hz. That number should only really worry you if you're looking at a 3D solution.

Went to Av Expo this weekend and got the UAD46000 for R10999 with free 3D glasses and DVD's worth R1400.Superb quality, nice features.Easy interface.I must say that i am noticing bleed issues. Not sure if i have a problem or is this normal?Backlight set to 10.@Roman - Have you noticed this?

Sony has been making a loss in its TV division for 7/8 years!
Samsung is the world sales leader in LCD TVs.

Both of those are facts. Make your choice.
I like the build quality and aesthetics of the Samsung TV's.

Nope, my panel's light distribution is very uniform even at my usual backlight setting of 14.

In total darkness I only notice ever so slight flashlighting from the top 2 corners, but with the lights on its not visible. Obviously this is with something bright in the center of the screen and the rest/edges being black, as soon as the whole screen is black the TV reduces the backlight to ziltch (like being powered off).

You can use Ch 999 on DSTV to test this, which should show only a bright message decal in the centre of the screen.

@Roman Played with some settings and managed to sort it out.Changed the backlight to 10 and then under advanced options ,changed black colors to very dark.
Now its almost perfect. This TV is great.Got my Iphone to work as a remote.Upscaling on the USB port plays better than my XBox.Waiting for MW3 today to test my gaming :)
