Samsung working on 600MP camera

Samsung's head of its sensor business team, Yongin Park, has issued a press release explaining how the company is trying to make an image sensor that will surpass the resolution of the human eye.

Our eyes are said to match a resolution of around 500MP, while Samsung is aiming to create a 600MP camera sensor.

Oh yes! I've really been looking forward to image files bigger than a terrabyte..

Seriously, why even? My DSLR is an 18MP and takes way professional quality snaps.

If it is better than the human eye, what is the point?
You wont be able to experience it fully.

It's like screen cards... "Gaaaaa! I just GOTS to upgrade to this new card @ $5656584 cost, coz I can then get from 236 fps @ FHD to 23EIGHT fsp YOH!

Meanwhile, the Human Eye: "Erm, you do realise that those fps speeds are way above what eye (hahaha eye made a joke (hahaha, I did it again)), can perceive and your mushy brain can translate to cognitive response right?

Lol trying to catch up with Huawei.

Huawei P40 Pro DXOMARK review have established the smartphone on the top spot with 128 points followed by the Honor 30 Pro+ with 126 points in the second place.

However, we thought the latest flagship from Samsung – Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, will give a head to head competition to the P40 Pro but it landed on the sixth place with 122 points on DXOMARK alongside Honor V30 Pro.

What's the point exactly?

"Better than the human eye" who wants that? ☠️

If it's 'better than the eye' then it's just a gimmick to justify Samsung 's exorbitant prices ,Samsung wants us to pay for something we can't see,how are we going to know if it's even present if we can't see it, maybe the next Samsung flagship is going to be bundled with a microscope.

Iro.. Better than the eye can see..

In fact, as a 67 year old, I often use my phone camera to take a zoomed in picture of the tiny writing on food products (as an example) so I can read it easily, thereby effectively using the phone as a microscope.

Do you guys even read the articles?
I don't think so.
There's clearly some indication as to its uses:
However, sensors that can detect light wavelengths outside this range can be used for various tasks, such as diagnosing skin cancer or improving quality control in industries such as agriculture.

Samsung believes that in the future, sensors may even be developed that can see microbes not visible to the naked eye.
@whats-the-point-whiners: Stop thinking of it as a thing to take pictures of your ugly ass face for a second and think of it as a more fine-grained way to see the world - opportunities to be aware of things that our eyes are stupid at and tasks which evolution or deities have ill-equipped us for.

This is how technology and our interaction with the world changes - by making stuff that pushes the boundaries of what we think we need, and 10 years later we wonder how we ever lived without it.
