So..

SB is the new line to CPU... and apparently it's better than the i7... But what really makes it better than the i7?

I was trying to find out.. but there was no result..

Want to get one.. (Maybe..) But then another question.. does my motherboard have to be changed? Because I have a 1156 Mobo... With a i3 530..

Anyway.. hoping someone would help me understand more about the SB CPU's

:)

THanks

You do need a new board. SB is socket 1155.

When everyone was buying socket 1156 I warned everybody to rather by AM3 as socket 1156 was going to be replaced soon but no one listened.

You'll probably be better off just getting a socket 1156 quad like a 760 or something.

They are better because they use a smaller manufacturing process (less heat + power required), and have a different architecture. Availability is mighty scarce so you'll be in for a bit of a wait. You also need to wait for the new motherboards to come out that have the SATA ports fixed

And no, you cant use your current motherboard because Intel in all its wisdom like having 3 different sockets, one of which has 4 or 5 sub sockets. This is to help make things clear and simple instead of confusing /end sarcasm

This MB socket changing BS drives me crazy. Half the reason I haven't upgraded in years.

I wonder if the industry will ever settle on some standards.

I see.. a new board.. and is it just normal 1156 boards? Or do I need special SB ones?
