PRETORIA – Eyewitness News can confirm that the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) corporal arrested in Limpopo this week following a robbery, is currently awaiting trial on attempted murder charges in Pretoria.

Corporal Jacob Marakalla, who is the personal driver for joint operations chief, General Barney Hlatshwayo, was arrested together with two accomplices in Limpopo on Tuesday while driving an official military vehicle.

Marakalla shot motorcyclist Carine van Staden in the chest in an apparent road rage incident in Pretoria last year after he had collided with the motorbike that she and her fiancé were riding.

After an alteration at a traffic light in the north of Pretoria, Marakalla got out of his vehicle, pressed his national defence force service pistol to Van Staden’s chest, and fired a single shot.

Why has he not been court marshalled and all that?

Well he's the lacky of General Hlatshwayo, I doubt the gen is unaware of what's going on. Surely the gen should have questioned why the guy is still serving him unless... you make your own assumptions.

the military disciplinary code (has a new name now) compels certain categories of charges to be handed over to saps for investigation & prosecution.
once that process has been completed sandf will follow their own process - often resulting in a discharge from service.

2 strikes essentially - suspect is sentenced by the criminal courts, then sandf proceed with dishonorable discharge - with no benefits

But surely you are suspended during the criminal investigation by the saps?

Because that is a western paradigm that only exists in western defence forces and has no place in Africa.

In African mentality the higher your rank the less answerable you are, hence JZ and all his ****. Being a public servant is not a concept that Africa understands, never have and never will. The odd few whites banging on about corruption etc are just a small nuisance, but no matter as they are just tourists that will soon go back home so there is no need to pay attention to their ramblings.

SA will slowly (or actually quite rapidly) devolve back to some sort of monarchy state (already has all but in name) where the king (now CR) will just receive tax and "own" everything. Queue many coups over the years so the next strong young "brave" of the tribe can take over and you have every other African country.

SANDF starts process to discharge corporal arrested for robbery

PRETORIA - The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) says that it has initiated processes to discharge the VIP protector who was arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Limpopo this week.

Eyewitness News revealed on Thursday that Corporal Jacob Marakalla is in fact the personal driver of joint operations chief, General Barney Hlatshwayo.

It has further emerged that Marakalla is standing trial for attempted murder in connection with an apparent road incident last year, when he shot a woman at point blank range.

This is just so fvcking disgusting I'll refrain from saying what I want to so I don't get banned.
Happened in Aug 2017 and is only coming to fruition now?
I look forward to a life in prison sentence which isn't life long anyway.
