SANDF corporal arrested for robbery awaiting trial for attempted murder

Marakella, who is the VIP protector for General Barney Hlatshwayo of the SANDF, was initially charged with a minor misdemeanour, that of “discharging a firearm in a built-up area”. The fact that he had nearly killed Ms. Van Staden did not even appear on the charge sheet. Only after a public outcry, was he eventually charged with attempted murder, but not arrested as would be the normal procedure upon such a charge.

Marakalla was arrested while driving the high-powered VIP protection BMW used to chauffeur Hlatswayo, complete with military registration plates and blue lights.

Since when does a general get blue lights? Time for this charge to be looked into as well.

Also, why does the general have an official BMW military vehicle? Military vehicles are supposed to be pool vehicles for use by anyone. A trip authority needs to be issued each time one is used. This is complete abuse of the system especially seeing that generals are entitled to buy a car subsidised by the military for their personal use which becomes theirs once paid off. The proviso is that a certain distance has to be covered monthly by the subsidised vehicle.

General Hlatswayo should be investigated for allegedly:

1. Having an "official" military vehicle. (Fraud)
2. Confirmation of the distance his subsidised car has done.
3. Use of a military vehicle to save distance on his subsidised car. (Fraud)
4. Trip authority of his "official" vehicle. (Fraud)
5. Use of blue lights when not entitled. Only the military police are authorised to use blue lights

So I'm thinking there may be a little more cause for a military general to have blue lights, than for example the minister of stationary, or minister of arts and culture.

It seems the use of blue lights is really a cheap status symbol used to send a message to the riff-raff as a reminder as to how terribly important, successful and influential the occupant of the car sees himself.

Us lowly peons and oompaloompas, need to realise its the blue light people that hold the thread of society together, and without them, life as we know it, would simply unravel.

I would suggest we all consider a curtsey or bow as the cavalcades escorting the blue light people approach.
A further suggestion would be to remove that nasty cheap foam used by Mercedes and bmw in their seats. It's undignified, and should be replaced with peacock feathers post haste

Only the military police car can have blue lights from what I understand, and no other cars in the military fleet. Unless the General uses police VIP unit car, which is very unlikely.

True. They can't afford to maintain their equipment but the generals get to drive around in BMW's with blue lights. You can't make this shyte up. Thankfully I no longer have to endure the sniggers of foreign military personnel behind my back. The cadres are the right people for that. Too thick skinned or unable to notice the sniggers.
