Hi Guys,
I was wondering if any of you have had a similar task as I do. Basically we bought a few CF cards to install Win XP Embedded on in these special Industrial PC's. We bought the SanDisk Extreme III cards, and we are able to install XP Embedded on it, and it boots fine. Though the problem comes in when we need a second partition, and unfortunately, as always, we do need a second partition on ALL of them.
After much research, I found out that you won't be able to do this because the card is marked as a removable device, and that you have to use a little application from SanDisk to set it to fixed mode, though SanDisk has now discontinued this app, and I was told to purchase different cards (by the SanDisk support guys).
Is there anyone out there who knows of an app that will do this for me, or perhaps a way under Linux. I would really love to get these cards working as we need it to, without having to go and purchase different ones.
I did find this little utility from SanDisk on the web, with the commands needed, though due to these Industrial PC's not having a CD-ROM or Floppy drive, I am unable to use a Dos Boot Disk in order to run it. I tried it with an external DVD writer, with a Dos Boot Disc, but it doesn't work, as Banana fails to install etc.
I have Googled the intertron to the end of it's reach, and it appears that it is mostly some enthusiast guys trying stuff like this.
