Sandy bridge upgrade

Ivy Bridge you mean?

Luckily you are in Cape Town, home to the 2 best online shops. Wootware (Somerset West) and Landmark (Pinelands).

Just checked on the Esquire online store and they have the 3570K, an Asus ASUS P8H61-M LX board and 8Gigs of Kingston DDR3 1333 RAM for a total of R3119 including VAT.

If you go via Esquire you can get the following:

Intel Core i5 3570k Processor: R1749
Kingston 4GB DDR3 RAM: R199
Intel H61 Motherboard: R399

Total: R2347

At the same price as the link you provided you can get a much better motherboard and even more RAM.

No offense intended but thats just plain stupid, why would you get a K-series CPU, designed for overclocking, to pair with a H61 chipset? Thats like a V8 engine with all the bells and whistles together with a 3 gear gearbox and 13 inch tyres.

If you want to over clock, get a Z-series chipset or otherwise get a non K-series CPU for that H61 chipset.

You are right.

I just tried to show the price at what he/she could get the hardware at - that is why I said he can actually go for a better motherboard with the money that will be saved.

Esquire have the ASUS P8Z77-M board for R1279 excluding VAT. That's the cheapest Z series board I could find on their site.

I'd like to buy from them but they make it so hard had a mybb account with them and now it's not working any more, now its almost new year so that means I'll have to wait which I'm not really good at. Also thinking of going the AMD route and getting the FX 8120
