Sanlam Glacier

Honestly though...avoid Sanlam. I had the Glacier RA and the costs are immense!

Moved to 10X.

I got this RA with Sanlam, one with an Echo bonus. If I move it to 10x, you think I'll be better off? Sorry if I go off subject, here?

Have it now for +/-20 years, though converted to this echo thing a few years back. Still got bout 20 years left.

L O L Cut your losses and move on ! I made 60% in 3 months with Allen Grey compared to 10 years with Liberty !!!

My friend also had the echo bonus, he lost about 20K, moved to AG, making up very quickly

Firms have you by the short and curly's making you scared to move, but milks you with fees !

The echo bonus with Sanlam, ask for a detailed statement, get ready for a marketing fee per month !!! A big one

Asked Sanlam for a quote for section 14, this morning. They send it to me, but the first 3 pages is a plea not to go and "what a big mistake" it is to go etc etc. LOL

phew, 60% in 3 months, please tell us more and provide fact.

My "L" portfolio over 10 years cost me R40 000 for R40 000 growth

The same capital amount, since 22 June 2017 (Fees R436, dividends R4900, Interest R111 and portfolio growth R19800)

Its actually 62% !

All I can say .... say away from the M, L and S firms !!!

Dont worry, I got that now from Momentum also ! They said I am making the biggest mistake of my life ! L O L !

I spend a month reading up on portfolio's (matched what friends have / studied fact sheets), and it was all worth it !

I cant wait to see the stats for 1 year !

Take note, I am comparing growth (But honestly, its still @#$@#@#$ amazing to say the least !)

I don't think you have a clue how to calculate growth. You can't just make up your own formulas.

Assuming there were no additions of new money, or withdrawals from the investment, the correct formula is:

Investment value on 12-10-2017/ Investment value on 22-6-17 -1 = % growth

Ok wait ... mr policy expert is here !

Its not my own formula's ! If I compare time (10 years vs 2.5 months) ....

I really dont want to write an essay to say the least ! If you have faith in L, M or S (please go with them), enrich them please.

Ok, I quickly took your equation and worked it out.... 6.8%

If you read my other post, I was comparing the two firms growth / fees !

And Vrede, to answer your with % over 10 years with Liberty. I think if I say 6% over 10 years is VERY VERY optimistic !

So .... 6% over 10 years compared with 6.8% over 2.5 months

I will never recommend that anyone use L,M,S,O or D for investments.

Do you realise that the JSE ALSI is up 14.6% since 22-6-2017 and the MSCI World Index is up 11.3% since then. The Allan Gray balanced fund is up 8.3% since that date.

You should therefore be very disappointed with a measly 6.8% over that period.

I also hope you realise that risky stock market investments go both up and down sharply in short bursts from time to time. You cannot extrapolate the last few months returns to gauge long term expectations. The next few months can easily see a 10% decline.

As much as I despise Stanlib, I am sure their funds also did quite well since 22-6.

You have no idea how nice it is to see things before your eyes ! With the wrapper in a wrapper how things work (all BS to say the least)

I agree with your list of firms to avoid ! And glad to see you endorse also stanlib (I am on par with you there Verde).

I am comparing time with L with what I now have, and to my disappointment, sad I didnt ask questions MUCH earlier.

We cant rewind time (and investment time is very important).

I will make a note 1 year from now, to show you how my AG did ;)

@zerocool2009, don't be an utter ****, Verde adds significant value in this space. In this sphere he will **** you up with one hand behind his back, move on brother. You 60% claims are utter bull****.

Please don't pm me moving forward.

Hi Air .... V can **** you ever up by all means, including me ! I have my facts ! And if you think my 60% is BS .... well, think again !

We are here to help each other, and if you say V added what value ? More breaking people down by the looks of it !

And ps Air, no fighting please ! We are on here to help each other.

happy too, but you need to understand simple concepts better and not get worked up when people point out your errors, which in this case were significant(60% vs 6.8%, let that sink in).
