Sanlam Liquid

Probably buy lots of different ncd's.

Yeah, I assumed as much too but then I am not really sure that falls into the description of "not putting all your eggs in one basket"... it is not really diversification to any great extent!

PS Be careful of that jargon there! NCD's ;)

Just to add to the confusion...

Spend some time here and decide what u want to do
http://www.fundsdata.co.za/Udt/Main.asp
It's always easy to tell where u SHOULD HAVE invested:)

...and to put that into perspective average CPI over this same 3 year period was 8.05% pa, CPIX was 7.02% pa...

Please DJ! Certain posts are open for jokes and digs but others you should perhaps consider being a little serious. I am never going to see blu in real life so I am not sure how I am salesmanning her? Of what benefit to me would that be? I am giving her free :) advice.

The rest of what you say pretty much says what I said in different terms. If this makes more sense to Blu then thanks but I am not sure why mine would be salesmanning but if you change the words you use then it is not? And if you say it is because I mentioned Stanlib then you are equally guilty for your comments about Sanlam. The fact that Stanlib was top of the Plexcrown ratings and has recently won numerous raging bull awards perhaps shows that my mentioning of them as an asset manager is not a bad thing. I am sure you probably said it in jest but in doing so you may detract from the truths I have told.

Chill Lancelot. Twas a joke - take a deep breath! You should know the nature of my posts by now sheez.

Ha ha that is the part I found confusing myself... perhaps just saying it in another way made it easier to see. I have to admit I do sometimes slip into jargon. Suppose we all do sometimes...

That is exactly what I was trying to do for Blu - explain in a more leymans term way as she requested in a previous post. Now untie your labia and chill...

I doubt what I said in any way detracts from your posts' validity at all. Man, we can agree on a topic and you still find a way to b1tch and moan - what happened to positive Lancelot? Have a bad day?

Perhaps you should keep your banter to the TK thread. By insinuating that the advice I am giving is mere sales talk is belittling the advice I am giving. Your insinuation is that I am merely trying to make a sale and not telling it as it is.

If you would like to agree with a post of mine then perhaps you should look at the way you do it before claiming that I bitch and moan even when we agree. Leaving out the first sentence of your post would have still resulted in you telling Blu what she needed to know...

Humour is a wonderful thing until it is being done at your expense.....

I'm shedding some tears right now, that was beautiful and heartfelt:o

If you want to invest in shares, look at www.satrix.co.za and www.dbx-trackers.co.za

R300 pm is sufficient.

Just remember the stock exchanges are in a downward run at present, and stocks are bigger risks than bank deposits. But bigger risk usually means bigger rewards. Unless the risk gets reality.

PS: I'm not a financial adviser! Just mentioning products that might make sense to some.

I appreciate that coming from DJ extraordinaire of PE and I'll be sure to listen out for that latest number one hit of yours on 5FM and look forward to watching you at Ibiza!

PS At least you said you were only contemplating humour as if that was a full on attempt at humour you failed dismally!

I write for Cardies as well if you want to see more of my works...

I am curious as to who took the jam out of his doughnuts today - shame!

Earning anything less than what the current rate of inflation is would indicate that your invested assets are losing value. Even if you earn 20% interest, its not a real 20% growth. It is 20%, before one considers inflationary increases (around 10%?).

1 - PE? WTF? Now you insulting sales people AND Bwana?

2 - Wouldnt want a hit on 5FM but I do have a track currently playing on Saturday Surgery - thanks for the support;)

3 - Ibiza is yesteryear - Majorca is the new "it place" - not your scene though so I doubt I will see you at either of them.

As for the last part - where did you misplace your sense of humour? Glad you found it again. Being serious isnt one of your more endearing qualities.

NCDs ....

Ag no, man, I said no financial jargon !! :D

I am not allowed to tell you what they are, sorry Blu. My thunder box is full today having stolen all of Lancelot's.

And apologies for the sense of humour, it just slipped out...

Negotiable Certificates of Deposit

Negotiable Certificates of Deposit (NCD’s) are issued for the purpose of attracting deposits. They offer the same security as term deposits but the investment rate, as well as the term, is negotiable, thus enhancing their attractiveness to depositors. The issuer undertakes to pay the amount of the deposit plus the interest to the holder on the maturity date, which could range from 3 months to 5 years. On maturity or longer than a year interest is paid as coupons, semi-annual in arrears. NCD’s offer the same security as term deposits but are negotiable at the ruling market rate. As such it can be structured to accommodate the customer’s cash flow requirements and also allows for budgeting. NCD’s can also be resold into the secondary market.
