Sanral incident raises e-toll technical questions

Such waste of money to try and build a system to recuperate initial cost spent on the roads. Not to mention the ongoing support (employment/IT/Hardware/Admin etc) costs, when they knew it was going to be hard to be accepted by anyone.

Let's see how much more they can waste and upset more people.

I'm sure the gantries have their own transaction storage and bulk uploading capabilities. It is all automated. The ops centre is mostly there to monitor incidents, like links that are down, system error codes, flagged incidents and monitoring the system.

I doubt any toll transactions were lost.

Your assumptions regarding the gantries' capabilities are correct. I'd be very surprised if they lost any data.

This is very confusing, so the previous reports of the power for the entire SANRAL office being cut is not accurate?
