SAOL 30 Gb

The "object" in this case, is to try and provide the most affordable internet connectivity possible, given the constraints imposed by over-regulation, and molopolisation. The only way that we have been able to allow the majority of our clients some respite, is by having the minority of high-end users transferred to the new price structure. This is not punishing them, as the packages are still very competative, but rather, it is giving the bulk of our clients an opportunity otherwise ill-afforded.

Marko: I accept your point and support that even your new structures are extremely reasonable given the constraints. However, it is a misrepresentation to say that you are still offering people the 30gb account at the old price, since the only reason you are doing this is because they are not using the bandwidth. Right?

Shai'tan: Based on the new structure, I'd guess anything over 10gb is high end...

Ok, that makes sense ...

I dont NEED 30gb, but use like 6-8gb.

So, if i sign up for oct (last 10 days) and pay the R229, i also get 30gb intl in nov (for R300) and, provided i dont "abuse" the 30gb this could stay the same for dec ?

If this is correct, what is considered abuse ? 20gb ? the whole 30gb ?

Negative

Why are SAOL seemingly avoiding direct questions such as "Will this be the price AFTER Nov.1?" and the thing about it being R1600 in Dec.

I think all the questions have been dealt with in some detail in this thread, and we are now flogging a dead horse.

I agree -SAOL is playing a mind game here, We are asking questions in English and they are talking in Telkom language.

Simple questions:-

1.If I signup with SAOL on 01 Nov for ADSL 30 Gb or even 10 Gb What are the costs.

2.Will this cost change in DEc

3.If I signup now what will 30Gb and 10 b cost me in Nov.

Thats all, simple questions...that are english so we want english replies please. We are no interested in the constraints and the challenges with SAIX and all, just give us prices....

Ok, let's clear things up here before we're all totally confused.

Issue 1: Pricing after November 1
SAOL pricing will change on November 1 - Our new rates are official and are available HERE

Issue 2: Existing clients' packages after November 1
This is an issue between SAOL and our clients. We believe we have managed to fulfill our promise to our clients and do not wish to discuss our internal workings as this is private company information. If you sign up before 1 November expect to pay our new prices from 1 November - if you somehow manage to stay on our 30 Gig special beyond November, consider it a bonus.

Issue 3: Notice Periods
Our notice period is 30 days - this notice period works both ways, so if we increase pricing to R1600 we will inform you 30 days before the increase, you can then cancel your account if the new pricing is not to your liking.

We are a reputable business trying to offer the best value to our clients, we've been in the industry a long time and I'm sure any SAOL user on this forum will vouch for our service & support.

1.If I signup with SAOL on 01 Nov for ADSL 30 Gb or even 10 Gb What are the costs.
We do not offer a 30 Gig on 01 Nov - You can signup for a 10 Gb account @ R349 and use our top up facility (R69 / Gig)

2.Will this cost change in DEc
No - we do not plan to change our new pricing structure.

3.If I signup now what will 30Gb and 10 b cost me in Nov.
In November our new pricing structure will be implemented. If you manage to stay on our 30 Gig special for November, consider it a bonus.

Clear enough ?

1 Simple question that I think will make a big difference. You have to give notice of 30 days according to what you just said. Which effectively means if we do sign up for this account we will at least get nov at 30 gigs for said price? And then possibley be informed that from december we will have the new pricing strucutre.

That doesnt sound so bad from our perspective, but it does look like they will be subsidising a lot of new ppl on 30gb for nov, who would likely just leave if they got stuck on a new package for dec.

Thanks Pedantic and SAOL, it is appreciated what you are doing. What is the sign up time, say I phone now, is it a 10min procedure of a 1 day procedure.

Good point, however, you will be informed during the singup procedure that the offer expires on 1 November.

I Think SAOL may have some inside information on new thngs to come in Dec,so they don't mind subsidising clients in Nov, cause they still want to
retaing them in Dec, Thats what I think, besides most people never use 30Gb a month.

Whatever their business tactic may be - they've got my vote so far.

I take it what your trying to say here is that if were going to be on the new pricing structure it will be from November and not December as I have sugested.

I understand that perhaps your guys intentions are good but I hope you realise that if the majority of these new users are stuck on the new pricing plan theres gona be a lot of venom directed at u guys on these forums. Just look at the 7000 odd page views of angst directed at axxess for taking so long to do a press release. I sugest you be as clear as possible, esp about any negative aspects of what might happen to ppl who sign up for this account. The more clear you are now the more grief it will save you later.

I agree Marko, no more posts on this topic, It seems to me that people are trying to nit-pick and have totally lost the point.

Tarquin

There was no nit-picking--

We simply asked for prices and clarity on the packages and you guys went ahead and told us about your service and the fact you own bandwidth. All we wanted was prices thats all.

It is sad that we only got it after 5 pages of posting.......AND WE COMPLAIN OF TELKOM

All they really needed to say was that they are still offering the 30GB acc this month. If you sign up for it now theres an unknown chance that you might be lucky enough to stay on the same acc at the same price you paying now from November. Otherwise you will end up on the new pricing structure from the 1st of Nov without 30 days notice. We dont expect prices to change in the next X months.

Simple...

Bassically this is a lotto ppl, your paying for a 30gb acc for this month to stand a chance to stay on it, otherwise youll be on there new pricing structure come Nov 1st.
