Anyone else on these accounts getting really slow speeds? Mostly browsing, web page time outs. High local and international pings. Avg download speed local and int at 10-14kb/s

I see you aren't the only person experiencing slow speeds on the 30GB IPC SAOL account. Dude I signed up for the 30GB and then reverted back to my 10GB immediately. the 30GB is useless. slow slow slow!

What ticks me off is they did not say you will experience this on IPC

Why not say 30 GIG Saol accounts at ISDN 128 Speeds .....On peak time...56k modem dial up speeds! What a deal! *sigh*

I know they had problems with some line to be placed...but if that is not resolved then fine. I understand speed issues. However if it is..then this sucks and is waste.

PayVPN etc runs terrible over it too.

They just happy to sign you up for R599! They not are going to mention:

1) it's slow!
2) no P2P!
3) BTW we are going to change your username over the new year but we are not going to tell you.
4) there's no support over new year to get your new username when you try to connect with your old/invalid username and it doesnt work.

Apparently when I asked them about the speeds, they mentioned they have asked other people about their experience of the 30GB and they all said it's working great for what they are using it for. What "that" is I have no idea.

Have any of you phoned them and informed them of the slow speeds *today*?

Borgir, have you specified the following DNS:

Primary DNS: 196.25.188.30
Secondary DNS: 196.25.188.4

According to SAOL you must specify the DNS, you will see an instant improval. (this they told me in an email after complaining about speeds).

I thought it was only me. Those DNS settings made no/little difference for me either but I still got them in there just in case.

Support not online today? call them yet??

It seems to go really fast then slow....fast then slow...Etc etc

Yeah gonna get lunch then call...*grumbles*

Got through to support within 3 minutes.
Guy said i should not be having int and local problems. He did something to my account and reset something. Asked me to retry now getting 300ms to google. (apart from 800ms) Saix 45ms.

He is also gonna forward issue to Tarquin who supposedly deals with the IPC accounts too.

Lets cross fingers :p

Spoke to soon....

Your line speed is approximately 43.3 Kbps or 5.3 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

Download time: 94.235 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 43.3 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 5.3 (kiloBytes/second

Good stuff on being able to get through. Sunday isn't exactly the best day to have problems sorted out but kudos to SAOL on getting onto it.

Im not sure how their system works, but it might be based on pooling.

Try keep your connection idle for a minute or two, then do a speed test. If its pooling, it will go fast for up to their pooling time/size limit and then back to slow speed until your pool replenishes.

Heh may be that...speed increased again.

What are good local sites to ping? i did saix.net what is an IS addy to ping?
