I recently signed up for Saol's Uncapped ADSL. I must admit , after hearing about the problems with IS and Iburst, I was a bit sceptical.
So, I took out a month to month with SAOL and was pleasantly surprised.
I completed the application and within 24 hours had the service up and running.
The staff were pleasant and helpful, and I must say that I have learnt quite a bit about peer to peer and viruses and worms.
I was on a 10 gig account, which was very nice, but , my cap was being reached all the time (my bad :D ) ,I also had their secure ADSL that only allowed my adsl to connect to them so nobody could hijack my account, ( I tested this from my friend's account and it actually works  ) now with uncapped ADSL, that actually works, I am able to work without the worry that I need to top up. My monthly expenditure is fixed, my kids cannot abuse the connection, I can request my graphs and the service comes with a fixed IP which I am told can be very useful ( too much brain food for me ;) ) .
In the evenings , my son plays his games and music and it keeps him occupied and at home instead of going out with his friends and keeping me up worried that he could be in trouble. The only worry I have now, is that he now has a new friend and it is not me :p

I guess you might have guessed that I am new at all this, but, I am impressed. SAOL has made my life easier, I am considering changing my account to a contract. It has been 42 days , and I have been top UP Free :)!

Is anyone else using SAOL? I have no comparison, but all is working well. I would like to know if I am not sizzling out of the frying pan and grilling in the oven :) . Any suggestions?

Thanks Guys

Hi

Yes they do allow peer to peer, but it is limited to evenings. SAOL says that this is a business account, designed for businesses to use, in the evening businesses are not using the account, so they allow peer to peer in the evenings. Businesses apparently do not want peer to peer , as staff will abuse the networks.

My son uses peer to peer in the evenings.

Hi there Charming, thanks for taking the time out and posting such a great compliment. We are thrilled to hear that you have received such good service. :)

When I read a comment like that I ask myself is charming either a shareholder or an employee or both at SAOL.

Andy

Well, Andy

It is weird what this worlds is coming to,

Does one have to be working for a company to say good things

Anyways, I am still happy with my account. I had a bit of a scrape the other day with the connection not working. I called up the support desk... and the Technical Director himself helped me out. The fault was on my side, the plug work on my end was a mess, my adapter got loose.:o

And Riggs..... "my opinion would be , don't diss it till you've tried it..." Life is all about choices. You can choose to make a choice today, be it good or bad later on... at least know , you had a choice, there is a saying in life, " better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all?" I say " Better to have tried and tested, then never to have tried at all!"

Killadoob the Super Grandmaster... I know it sounds simple to you, for me, I was topping up until I got uncapped...that was the point I was making, now I do not have to. "Duh" :)

Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Go Go .....wonder where I heard this before :)
