Saol.com Uncapped Packages - Cheaper than Mweb

I'm still on the 384k unshaped SAOL package and I've got 70-80gb every month since November last year when I first got it. Latency is always good, just 384k is sloooow. Maybe I'll give them a month on the 1-10mb package, otherwise I'm switching. Seriously cant live on 384k anymore.

I've been with SAOL from the start of the uncapped 384k thing and it's been the only provider that I've had that has CONSTANTLY given me full download speeds, no matter the time of day!
No shaping, no throttling (it was the original 384k package thing). I think I might have missed some of the flack as I was fortunate enough to not have to download the internet every second evening, so my monthly usage was between 20 and 30 gigs.

Service wise, the couple of times I have had to call in have been pretty painless.

I swapped from the 384k to a capped 4mb package a bit back and everything is still going well.

SAOL Uncapped

I haven't had any issues with SAOL since they started.
I once phoned them at about 10pm 'cause my router lost it's settings, and the lady assisted me post haste!

Even though I pay more, and 384k is SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW, I won't change in a hurry.
I just can't wait to be rewarded once they are up to speed with the competition (no pun intended)

SAOL - u don't suck...unless you want to :)

And they did not mention any usage above 30 gigs is considered abusive anywhere.
I'm canceling my account with them next month because of this...

Its been awhile since I visited here...

My little "sob" story regarding SAOL and their uncapped accounts, keep in mind I signed up when they first launched their uncapped product way back then.

A couple of days prior to Black Ops being released the Telkom Exchange in my area was hit by lightning and had a few bits n bobs fried. Once it was repaired and I installed Black Ops only to find I need a patch to download so off I go to work to let the patch download. Come back and ... it only downloaded +-10mb, this time I watched it and saw that Steam was not able to keep a constant download rate in fact it struggled to get above 5kb/s whereas http downloads and torrent flew at full 384k speed. So I give them the benefit of the doubt thinking that maybe Steam is flooded with BO installs and downloads. Another day goes by the same thing, this time I phoned them. I was promptly old that I was abusing the network and over a period of 2 months (note to anyone else dont use these accounts if you buy your games from Steam) and had downloaded more than 30GB in those 2 months. I asked them to show me where A: Where I was informed via email or telephone call that I was abusing the network? B: A email informing me about changes to the original product that I signed up for? C: A email informing me about the 30GB cap limit on a uncapped account? What I got told back was that "We now use a Fair Usage Policy that all ISP's must adhere to" when I asked for a copy of the FUP I got told to visit the website and I found their T&C's. As soon as I read number 4 & 7 I phoned them up and cancelled my account.

I would not recommended SAOL to a single person and am glad that they will no longer get my money. I also find it very annoying that they will make changes to ones account without notifying you of these changes, in a day where emails are extremely quick and easy to type out you think you would get one telling you about the changes they have made.

Sainet did the same thing, changed the T&C of their after hours account. The thing is they don't send out emails, because then a lot of users will just cancel immediately. By keeping quiet they can score another month or two worth of subscriptions before the end user actually figures out whats going on. Well, that's what happened to me at least.
