lol you obviously dont work for SAOL :D nah that would be too obvious wont it ... :D

fuc saol.com they cancelled uncapped after they had the best uncapped... due to high usage. sell out of note..... so if they bring it back, to hell with them.

LOL i wonder if its the same thing but with an ever stricter FUP

Had the SAOL uncapped. R499 all in.

Was asked to leave for using too much of something with no limit

Anyway, they're nice enough and quick enough on the service and queries side of things.

Still have my line rental with them (384k @ R139 incl. 1GB). Openweb gold on top of that dialled from the torrent box :D

R399 for a .com domain are they #$@#$@#$ insane? I get it for less than R120

I was with SAOL for around two years. After 6 months, my ping went from 10 to 50. Then after another six months, it went to 120 and stayed there. I then bought a Telkom account and using the telkom account I had a 10 ping. SAOL denied any wrong doing, which only ever gave me headaches. At the end of each month, they would randomly lose their international connectivity and blame it on a network fault (while no other providers were effected). My guess is they were trying to save cash by preventing us from using our remaining gigs. The only reason I kept with them was because I was sharing the bill with some one who didn't use the net much, and he was too lazy to cancel the account.

I eventually jumped ship when the prices all dropped, as SAOL were one of the slowest to adapt. I've never looked back, and I use every opportunity to bash SAOL for year of hell I had to go through while with them.

tl;dr:
Dont use SAOL. Their capped accounts run as badly as cheap uncapped accounts. Expect no international at the end of the month and high pings.

Even R120 is WAY TOO MUCH!! Please everyone...DO NOT BUY YOUR DOMAINS FROM SOUTH AFRICAN/AFRICAN WEB SITES!!! .COM DOMAINS go for $10 USD/YEAR which is about R70/YEAR! Go to namecheap.com

Please save your money because we are already getting ripped it from from DStv to the internet, cars, shoes, you name it!

Nope, scouting around for uncapped packages for my PS3 with a low ping

384K All-in-1 Uncapped (R329.00)

i was wondering does existing clients on R499 all in one uncapped deal get this price too?
or is it a different account ?

Checked with Saol today, the uncapped for R329 is shaped, whereas the one for R499 is unshaped.
The R329 package is the same as Mweb's

That has just answered my question thanks ps3.

I would like to know if they would now be so kind as to relax on the whole 30GB being considered abuse policy as one never knows where they stand with SAOL, and have alienated most from ever rejoining SAOL.

Surely ESSAY and competition has meant that data charges have now dropped significantly over the last few months.

The R499 uncapped/unshapped deal should at least entitle us to say 50 or 60gigs a month?

Why doesn't SAOL come onto the forum as they use to, to clear up these delicate issues so people could perhaps start to see them in a positive light again.

Neethi i personally invite you here and request some comments on this matter.

Its been awhile since SAOL has even been in its own thread, and now is the time to settle this, and make your new uncapped deal clear with regards to usage.

Besides the 30GB issue i find their service excellent and would hate to start experimenting elsewhere due to this now lingering restriction.

Agreed, their service was excellent but I don't think I will ever go back to them after the way they treated their uncapped clients :(

I agree as well. I will never go back to SAOL, no matter what they offer! I got "kicked off the network" for using "too much" on an uncapped account!

Still pretty mad about the whole thing.
