No, I am not here to try and start another thread on "who is the best ISP".

I have tried 8 ISPs including Telskum.

I am not going to mention or rate them.

I must be a very difficult customer but, I can say the following;

SAOL, WebAfrica and WarpDevelopment are the 3 best out of the 8 I've tried.

But in my eyes as long as you don't support the beast its immaterial who your ISP is, we all here with the same objective - to hurt the beast.

You might be thinking that I am not a loyal customer, well, maybe not, but I think loyalty in this case is supporting any ISP besides Telskum.

SAOL!! where are the damn specials? ;)

Not critisizing, and dont take this negatively, but isnt SAIX = Telkom and vice versa?

So by supporting say IS for arguments sake, arent we still using the last mile supplied by Telkom?

/doc

Support IS is is atleast 90% not Telkom.. Any ISP reselling SAIX is selling the devils bandwidth, and I mean this in the kindest way possible.

I understand that alot of ISP's sell SAIX because they have to make a living and there is perhaps a place for SAIX in the market, but while Telkom is controlling SAIX I simply would not out of principal support their network.

Its kinda like not buying Telkom products if possible. Currently we rarely have a real choice.

Unfortunately supporting IS is hurting the consumer (which I am IS Business 512) as we have to contend with Telkom still in control of "The Link".
Slow or no international, no service

Most of our customers signed up with Mweb ADSL on SAIX,but we are educating them to switch or be switched off as some of them have already encountered on the SAIX ADSL - the hardcap

I heard that IS is introducing a new DSL package that will route via their fibre link shortly

I agree with Clipse....My only reason for staying with SAIX is that i only need Int mostly....I only use Myadsl/Hellkom Local....Since all i do is Online Game Int.

Costwise IS does not justify SAIX imo... May be Telkom but it is cheaper.

SAOL 10 Gig + LowPing/VPN at 600 is much better than...

600 IS 10Int+Local + Lowping/VPN at 900 + All the peering nightmares i am hearing.

My whole issue with Telkom is pricing.... i cant see IS winning here....regardless how much Local they give me.
SAIX i dont think will take any hit with people going to IS.

I dont mean this AT ALL to say IS is bad.... Its just SAIX at the moment is perfect for what i need.

To get back on topic...I would love to know specials too.....Please say its a bigger 10 gig Cap around same price...Maybe 20? :p

After all it all boils down to cost.

Why point fingers only at Saix? why doesn't IS offer better packages?

Why can't we get a decent price on a 10gig IS account?

To be honest, I have never tried IS, so I cannot comment on it.

From what I have read lately on this forum, IS also has loads of hiccups.

We all support the beast one way or another ... but it will change in the near future, I hope.

I would like to try an IS account and give my opinion.

What is the difference between IS and unshaped Saix? Is is that one belongs to Telkom and the other doesn't?

IS is still at the mercy of Telkom on the local loop, and the diginet ATM infrastructure, thus they still have to pay alot to telkom and at the same time do their best to be competitive.

Atm having nearly the same cost per gig is impressive to say the least, give IS Local loop access and SAIX would scream at IS price reduction.

LMAO,

Yes I read the posts that you're referring to, and for argument sake, lets just say that certain ISP started that particular post to see the reaction of their clients. (I know that it was not the case, I gathered myself that MrBEEP is doing a tremendous job therefore he had to be praised publicly)

Is that not marketing the intelligent way? hehehe .. people here find it easier to criticize others then be constructive in what they post.

I am now doing some marketing for 3 ISPs (not)... :) and if each one gives me 2 gigs for free I'll be set for half the month ... hahaha :D
