SAOL uncapped

Good evening forum,

I know SAOL had an uncapped option that failed miserably and stopped offering it but when I phoned tonight to cancel my capped account with them as I am signing up with mweb uncapped 4mb, the operator was saying that this week they would be launch a true uncapped solution, I tried to find out what backbone they would be using but he didnt know and said only the senior okes know about it.

Has any1 heard about this? and what backbone does SAOL use currently?

Thanks for the heads up buddy.

I have been with SAOL since 'the great scandal', and was also twiddling my fingers and really just itching to get something faster.

They currently use Seacom, but am hoping their new offer would be the Essay cable.

Did you also get a warning that 30gigs is considered abuse?

This is the main reason i wannna leave.
 
Thanks for the heads up! I'm still with SAOL uncapped R499. My wife threatened me if I change, as she heard the scary reports from some MWEB subscribers :-)

The most valuable part of SAOL to me is that besides it being cursed with that s***** 30 gig limit,
they loose toilet papers from big movie studios, and a warning letter doesn't happen.
 
Been with saol since the special started and had no letters , good speeds , not bad latency . no 30 gig limit warnings
interested to see this new special thou :)

Same here, for now. ;)

On a related note, I've always wondered what would happen to your line should the ISP holding it go bankrupt. Will they transfer it back to Telkom or will it end up in some sort of administrative limbo where it's completely useless to you. Anyone here have any idea?

I regularly do 75gb on my SAOL acount, but went over that (close to 90gb) once and then got a warning. But if they are releasing a new package with higher speeds then :D:D:D
 
Week has come and gone, nothing new on the SAOL site. Sigh... Phone them again!

Im going to send them an email.

This seems to happen alot though.

Company X will rumour some amazing deal that either never materialises[Telkom im looking at you!], or its just utter garbage not worth printing on yellow pages paper.

Hmm, well I don't use much. But I've never received any "abuse" letters. ^.^

I got told the same thing regarding new uncapped offerings, though the week mentioned was THIS week, I'm sure.

Will email again. Been a happy SAOL customer since the Dial-Up days. :)
