SAPO backtracks on its parcel delivery claim

Ordered something last week. 4 days from the US to SA.

Probably going to take > 7 days to clear customs and reach my local post office.
all of my parcels was in SA within 2 weeks, but it seem to stay at the sorting station in JHB for a month before being sent to the post office. So being sent from overseas doesnt seem to be the problem, it is distributing them to the correct post offices

I cringe every time I see that "Incomming International" in the tracking. It's been like that for years and no one there can be bothered to fix it.

I agree, what is the website used to track international parcels already in the country ? Ive tried trackandtrace but get no results. Tried Sapo too but no results

You need to email the customer care Centre with the international number and they'll give you a local number.

That has always been the problem. SAPO has never kept up with the demand for international parcels.

Track and trace should work. If it doesn't the parcel has likely not been scanned in SA yet.

Important letter from UK sent to me by a friend last Thursday 16th via RM International signed for ( cost me £7.90)
RM claim ( 5-7 working days delivery).

It left UK Friday 17th afternoon..
Let's wait ...and wait...and...

No expectations.

Private courier would have been much better. You should not be sending important documents by mail.

I've got nothing but hatred and contempt towards SAPO. Yet another force-fed service from the brilliant communist minds in government. I've lost several things through the years sent via SAPO.

Royal mail tracked delivery of a letter to SA.
Posted on 28 October
Scanned in at JIMC on 6 November
Scanned out of JIMC 13 November
Arrived at Witspos this morning.
Arrival at me - fukk knows.

A FUKKING LETTER.

Maybe you'll be luckier than me, I posted some documents to JHB from the UK, the envelope went UK to SA in 3 days, it was then almost 2 months before it got delivered to Absa HQ in JHB.

I hope you have more success than I did.

I've send 3 parcels in August and September, almost 20 kg each, they went missing.

There are many threads about the bad SAPO. I see some complained about lack of notification. I use the SAPO app. As soon as my packages are at one of three different post office, I go pick it up. It generally, takes a week to two weeks to arrive in SA. Thereafter, two to three weeks in JHB. Then another one to three weeks in Cape Town and then it is despatch to various post offices. The problem is, if they despatched to the wrong post office, the notification wont be send. Thus, just used the app.

Herewith one of my packages. Landed in JHB on the 9 November, was available for pick up on the 20 November 2019. I have 6 other packages ordered the same time, some was scanned at JHB before this package and is still in JHB. Some are at Cape Hub at the moment.

Not a chance. After seeing my package lying at JBH INT MAIL for over a week, I went to my post office to ask what the holdup is. The guy there said, that there are "millions of parcels" at that facility and they are short staffed. Apparently it will take at least another 4 to 6 weeks ...
I'm probably going to reorder.
